The ol’ folks have a saying down South that used to confuse me when I was growing up: “a hit dog will holler.” As a young pup, I had no freaking clue what they were talking about. But with age comes experience and wisdom, and now I get it. That southern maxim was in full display yesterday at the White House during President Obama’s press conference. It seems one reporter got under his skin — and, like a hit dog in the saying, he hollered. Loudly. As reported by the Weekly Standard:
Barack Obama scolded a reporter at his Wednesday briefing after getting a critical question about the nuclear deal with Iran. CBS News’s Major Garrett pressed the president on the imprisonment of Americans in Iran.“As you well know, there are four Americans in Iran—three held on trumped-up charges, according to your administration, one whereabouts unknown. Can you tell the country, sir, why you are content, with all the fanfare around this deal, to leave the conscience of this nation, this strength of this nation, unaccounted for in relation to these four Americans?” Garrett asked.
“I’ve gotta give you credit, Major, for how you craft those questions,” Obama responded. “The notion that I am content as I celebrate, with American citizens languishing in Iranian jails…”
The president’s voice trailed off before he continued. “Major, that’s nonsense, and you should know better,” Obama said.”If you haven’t yet seen it, check out the video below:
Of course, the long knives of the liberal progressive media are coming out to attack Major Garrett. But he asked a valid and very important question, and he used appropriate verbiage.Ask yourself, when have any of you heard President Obama speak the names of Jason Reznaian, Amir Hekmati, Saaed Abedini and Robert Levinson — the four Americans imprisoned in Iran? Matter of fact, did you hear Obama mention their names Tuesday morning as he pounded his chest over this full acquiescence to Iranian regional hegemonic dominance — courtesy of Barack Obama?
Please, someone share with us any video where Obama mentions these men being held — or unaccounted for, last seen — in Iran. Now, Obama has plenty of time to speak of Jason Collins and Michael Sam; after all, coming out as an openly gay athlete is far more important than being wrongly incarcerated by the Iranians. Even Secretary of State John Kerry referred to these Americans as not being consistent with the purpose of the talks. Kerry didn’t want to complicate the negotiations. What?
So, hat tip to Major Garrett for asking a very important question, because as the President of the United States, one would think Obama wouldn’t be content to leave these four men behind. I suppose if they’d been deserters, they’d be treated in a different manner. Just remembered, has Obama mentioned Kathryn Steinle? So, Iran’s about to receive billions of dollars to continue supporting Islamic jihadism. In three to five years, Iran will be able to receive and ship weapons, including ballistic missiles. In 10-15 years, Iran will be able to enrich uranium and build new nuclear reactors. Major Garrett’s question was certainly not nonsensical. The fact that we’ve capitulated to the regime of crazed clerics who shout “Death to America” is nonsense. Sadly, Obama doesn’t know better.
Can you imagine the sadness in the hearts of these families, knowing Obama’s touting this surrender as some great foreign policy achievement — while their loved ones languish in an Iranian prison under the worst of conditions? Yes, Mr. President, you were celebrating, displaying defiance and threatening a veto. Where’s your self-righteous indignation over the holding of American hostages?
And to the lap dog liberal progressive leftist media who are Obama’s complicit protectors, have you no shame in attacking Major Garrett — supposedly one of your own? Oops, that’s right, he went off the reservation and didn’t follow the fawning talking points. Garrett obviously unplugged from the Matrix of progressive socialist propaganda.
America, we should know better. And we have another example of how devoid of character President Obama is, in scolding a reporter asking an important question about the lack of concern about Americans hostages. But what’s even more telling is that Obama just agreed to something for which he’ll have no responsibility as of January 2017. And it will be our children and grandchildren who will have to live under the dark specter of what Barack Obama has consented. In actuality, he’s not just turned his back on the four Americans in Iran. He’s abandoned the future generations of our country.
