2 in custody after ANOTHER GOP lawmaker threatened

A pair of men at a protest in Arizona have been arrested for trespassing, and one was charged with making a threat on the life of Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake.

This comes less than a month after a radical Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on GOP congressmen at a baseball practice, seriously injuring Rep. Steve Scalise.

Deputy Cody Gress, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said Mark Prichard and Patrick Diehl were arrested on charges of third-degree criminal trespass Thursday morning, July 6.

Gress said the 59-year-old Prichard is also facing a misdemeanor charge of threats and intimidation.

“Staffers working at the office indicated one of the protesters had made comments referencing the shooting of Rep. Scalise, which prompted them to call the Sheriff’s Department as well as lock the office doors,” the PCSD said in a news release.

Prichard was told he wasn’t allowed back on the property and was arrested after he “made a point to step back onto the property,” according to Gress.

Jason Samuels, Communications Director for Sen. Flake, said Prichard threatened a staff member and said the following:

“You know how liberals are going to solve the Republican problem? They are going to get better aim. That last guy tried, but he needed better aim. We will get better aim.”

Apparently Diehl attempted to force his way into the office, but was arrested before he could gain access.

According to the deputy, the remaining protesters were peaceful and no further incidents occurred.

It goes without saying, but violence is no way to express your dissent about the political status quo. It most certainly does not win over folks to your point of view.

Regardless of what side of the spectrum you’re on, it’s clear that this sort of activity needs to be condemned by others on the left, or else they risk falling even more out of favor with the average American.

One of the beautiful things about free speech is that all of us are allowed to voice our political opinions and have spirited debate about the issues of the day, which can all be done without violence.

It’s shame that’s not a lesson these two individuals learned.
