This summer has been a heyday for liberals rallying to tear down symbols they deem historically racist. The Confederate flag, of course, is the poster child for this rabid movement. While not everyone sees it the same way — where some see hate, others see heritage — action to eradicate this historical relic nonetheless has been swift and definitive. So it’s curious that many of these same people are so blindly supporting an institution with its very roots blatant racism. I’m referring, of course, to Planned Parenthood, whose founder was a racial eugenicist committed to creating a “race of thoroughbreds” and purging America’s “race of degenerates.”
Indeed, Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, was what you might describe as a hardcore racist. A group of black pastors sum it up well in their recent letter to the Smithsonian demanding Sanger’s bust be removed from its place of prominence, as The Daily Signal reports:“Perhaps the Gallery is unaware that Ms. Sanger supported black eugenics, a racist attitude toward black and other minority babies, an elitist attitude toward those she regarded as ‘the feeble minded;’ speaking at a rally of Ku Klux Klan women; and communications with Hitler sympathizers. Also the notorious ‘Negro Project,’ which sought to limit, if not eliminate black births, was her brainchild.”
Wow. If you didn’t know the context, you might assume this was a liberal description of evil Republicans! But no, they’re just talking about one of the idols of modern liberals, Margaret Sanger, one who inspires gushing from the likes of President Obama, wannabe president Hillary Clinton and icon of progressivism Nancy Pelosi.
The pastors quote an infamous December 1939 letter from Sanger to Dr. Clarence Gamble of the Eugenics Society, where, in the context of discussing the Negro Project, Sanger wrote: “We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out the idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”The succinct, powerful statement from the pastors adds: “Despite these well-documented facts of history, her bust sits proudly in your gallery as a hero of justice. The obvious incongruity is staggering!”
Amen to that!
Now, think about this: isn’t the incongruity of our government directing more than half a billion dollars per year to the institution this self-acknowledged racist founded also staggering?Compare this situation to the Confederate flag. Put aside, for a moment, your views on whether the flag is offensive and racist or a proud part of heritage. We were not using our taxpayer dollars to fund this flag, giving it priority, while cutting things like our armed forces, for example. This flag was not killing babies of any color, much less black.
Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter. Today, Planned Parenthood receives $528.4M of our taxpayer dollars. (Oh, by the way, this so-called not-for-profit organization is turning a profit on the back of these dollars — and never-t0-be-born babies — to the tune of nearly $1B.) How many soldiers would $528.4M keep from being cut from our active duty Army? How much road infrastructure could be repaired? How many ICE agents could be hired to ensure criminal illegal immigrants could be properly tracked and deported?
And, if you believe black lives truly matter (as I do), consider that since Roe v. Wade, an estimated 16 million black babies have been aborted. Wonder how this compares to the number of blacks killed and/or harmed at the hands of the Confederate flag? As anti-Sanger African-American pastors note, indeed 70 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics are located in minority neighborhoods. But OK, let’s even take those present-day facts aside; taking a cue from #liberallogic, let’s get facts out of the way for a minute. Even without all those modern-day considerations, Planned Parenthood should go the way of the Confederate flag based on its roots alone, having been founded by such a hardcore racist in Margaret Sanger. That’s the same argument that successfully brought down the Confederate flag, and even has some rallying to bring down our Stars and Stripes.
How do you think our dear president or wannabe Panderer-in-Chief Hillary Clinton would respond to this argument? Too bad our liberal mainstream media isn’t likely to tee this one up.
But why don’t y’all give this a go yourself? See how your liberal friends twist themselves into pretzels to defend their sacred Planned Parenthood without stepping on #blacklivesmatter. Would love to hear your experiences with this!
