Now that Hillary Clinton has, for all intents and purposes, clinched the Democrat nomination and racked up the endorsements of the party elite, focus turns to who she will select as her running mate.
Few potential picks inspire as much horror as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, not just for her far-left policies, but her lack of integrity.
And that’s just who Hillary Clinton is meeting with privately, just hours after Warren came on board endorsed her, after months of what appeared to be unspoken Bernie support.
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Friday arrived at Hillary Clinton’s home in Washington, D.C., for a private meeting with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
The confab comes a day after Warren, a progressive firebrand and outspoken Donald Trump critic, endorsed the former secretary of state.“I’m ready to get in this fight and work my heart out for Hillary Clinton to become the next president of the United States and to make sure that Donald Trump never gets anyplace close to the White House,” Warren told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
Amid growing speculation that Clinton could name Warren as her vice presidential pick — creating a historic two-woman ticket — Clinton told POLITICO on Thursday that she has the highest regard for Warren, calling her “eminently qualified for any role,” including vice president.Warren expressed confidence that she could do the job, asserting to Maddow that she has the capacity to be commander-in-chief — the role a vice president would assume upon either the president’s death, resignation or removal.
While some predict that Warren as a running mate could go a long way to rally Bernie supporters over to Hillary, the notion of Vice President Warren appears to be turning some away already. Mark Cuban has said he would not support Hillary if Warren is her running mate.
But there’s at least one Republican who relishes the idea of Elizabeth Warren as Hillary Clinton’s running mate. Donald Trump tweeted earlier this morning:
“Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive U.S. Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is V.P. choice,” Trump tweeted Friday morning, hours after Warren assailed the presumptive Republican nominee during a speech at the American Constitution Society, first calling him a “thin-skinned racist” and continuing the “thin-skinned” taunt throughout her stemwinder.
Perhaps the good news here is that once Trump has at it, the entire world will finally know what a faux-ny Elizabeth Warren truly is.
