Marco Rubio SLAYS with one brilliant question during the Comey hearing

The reason the entire Comey/Trump/Putin saga is being played out on the world’s stage can be summed in one word: leaks.

Information has been leaking out of the Trump White House, the FBI, the DOJ and, it seems, every other place in Washington where information is supposed to be at its most secure.

However in today’s congressional questioning of former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Marco Rubio asked what could be the most powerful question yet about all of the leaks. Rubio wasn’t asking about information that was leaked, he, instead raised a brilliant question about a huge piece of information that was not!

Fox Insider covered today’s Rubio/Comey exchange:

“Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) questioned former FBI Director James Comey on why there have been no leaks from inside the government about the fact that President Trump is not personally under investigation.

Earlier in the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey said Trump did not ask him to end the Russia investigation as a whole. He also said he believed he was fired by Trump because of the Russia investigation.

Rubio marveled at how many leaks have occurred during the Trump-Russia investigation, saying “we’ve learned more from the newspapers sometimes than we do from our open hearings.”

Do you ever wonder why, of all the things in this investigation, the only thing that’s never been leaked is the fact that the president was not personally under investigation, despite the fact that Democrats and Republicans and the leadership of Congress knew that and have known that for weeks?” he asked.

Comey answered that classified briefings to Congress on such matters are “pretty tightly held.”

Here’s a clip of Rubio’s question and Comey’s answer:

That’s one helluva good question.

Information has been leaking from this administration like water from a sieve, yet, as Rubio pointed out, all of those information leaks tend to have one thing in common — they are in some way damaging to Trump.

But information that does not cast a shadow over our president somehow never seems to make it onto the info leaks grapevine. Or if it does, it withers and dies while awaiting for someone to pick it up — someone like a reporter from the Washington Post, New York Times or other news reporting agency. Which is precisely why such leaks would be allowed to die in the first place.

Great question, Senator Rubio. Great, great question.
