Russian President Vladimir Putin has jokes, y’all. Pockets and pockets full of jokes.

Putin recently cracked wise about fired FBI Director James Comey being granted “political asylum” in his country, in the wake of Comey’s recently revelation about leaking information about Trump.

Lots of chuckles ensued.

According to The Blaze:

Russian President Vladimir Putin joked this week about offering former FBI Director James Comey political asylum, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

During his annual televised question-and-answer show Thursday, Putin likened Comey to Edward Snowden, a former contractor for the National Security Agency who gained asylum in Russia after he leaked classified information to WikiLeaks.

Putin said it is bizarre when the “head of an intelligence service makes a record of his conversation with the commander in chief and then leaks this conversation to the media via a friend,” Bloomberg reported.

“How then is the director of the FBI different from Mr. Snowden?” Putin asked. “Then he’s not a head of an intelligence service, he’s a human-rights activist.”

Comey revealed during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week that he gave the contents of a memo he wrote following a meeting with President Donald Trump to a friend in order for him to provide the information to a reporter. Comey said he made the decision to combat the White House’s shifting narrative about his termination.

Russian state-run media outlet TASS reported that Putin said that, if Comey “continues to be persecuted in this connection, we will be ready to provide political asylum to him, he should know about that.”

What’s a bit funny about the situation, other than the obvious jab taken at Comey, is that Putin has claimed he didn’t follow the former FBI Director’s testimony all that closely, yet seemed to be “in the know” on many important details surrounding the whole circus.

At the end of the day, there’s not been any proof of collusion between Trump and Russia, despite the best efforts by the liberal media to fabricate such a connection.

It seems like a desperate grasping of straws, a way to make sense of what leftists perceive as the “madness” of Donald Trump beating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

Listen, it’s totally fine and acceptable to disagree with Trump’s policies and to oppose his plans. This is America, after all.

The problem arises when a group of people attempt to sabotage an administration out of spite, rather than working on ways to appeal to average American voters better and rework their platform to reflect the values of their constituents.

Maybe one day they’ll start doing the latter.
