It’s been a rough few months for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Not only did her party lose the presidential election, but they also failed to win back control of the House. To make matters worse, Pelosi faced an uprising among members of her own party, some of which hoped to see her tenure as leader come to an end.Since then, Pelosi has attempted to lead the Democratic resistance to President Trump’s agenda, typically without favorable results. Clearly, the weight of the last few months has taken a toll on her.
Just a few months ago, Pelosi gave an incoherent speech that had many questioning whether she was still fit to serve. Among the blunders in that episode, Pelosi referred to Ohio Governor John Kasich as the Governor of Illinois. Needless to say, the Minority Leader has seen better days.Perhaps then, this was the perfect time for Pelosi to pay a visit to the Dalai Lama. Known the world over for passing on his wisdom, it could be just what Pelosi needs to finally right the ship. However, something tells me the advice he gave her will be hard for the California Democrat to follow.
From The Blaze:
Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi met with exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at his temple in Dharmsala, India, on Wednesday along with other U.S. representatives and told a gathered crowd they will “not be silenced” in the face of Chinese oppression, The Associated Press reported.“His Holiness prayed for me that I would rid myself of my negative attitude about dwelling on the negative too much,” Pelosi confessed to the crowd.
Of course, if Pelosi is known for anything, it is constantly dwelling on the negative. Never has that been more true than since President Trump took office. At times, Pelosi’s resistance to the Trump agenda has been borderline hysterical. Clearly, she would benefit from taking the Dalai Lama’s advice.
Whether or not Pelosi will take the advice to heart remains to be seen. With battles over Trump’s tax plan and healthcare on the horizon, it’s hard to envision Pelosi being anything other than her regular old self.If she does turn over a new leaf, there is perhaps a long list of liberals that could also benefit from a visit to the Dalai Lama. Perhaps the likes of Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer should look into booking a flight to India in the near future. It can’t hurt to try.
