You remember Rachel Dolezal, don’t you? How could you forget! She’s the former president of the local NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington who fell from grace when she was “outed” as actually being a white woman.
(That inconvenient genetic fact hasn’t stopped Shaun King from being a leading voice for the Black Lives Movement, but we’ll deal with him another time. Like this most recent hilarity.)Apparently, Dolezal has come on hard times since her blazing moment of fame as a black(-ish) activist. The poor thing is nearly homeless, on welfare…but apparently still believes she’s black.
“There’s no protected class for me,” the former NAACP branch president told The Guardian. “I’m this generic, ambiguous scapegoat for white people to call me a race traitor and take out their hostility on. And I’m a target for anger and pain about white people from the black community. It’s like I am the worst of all these worlds.”
But my dear, it’s ALL self-inflicted!
Per the Daily Caller via MSN.com, Dolezal has applied for over 100 jobs, but has received no offers, even from a supermarket. She has, however, been offered work in porn and reality TV. While a friend helped pay her rent for February, Dolezal expects she’ll lose her home next month. “I do think a more complex label would be helpful, but we don’t really have that vocabulary,” said the former Africana studies instructor. “I feel like the idea of being trans-black would be much more accurate than ‘I’m white.’ Because you know, I’m not white.”
Do we really have to have this argument again?
“It wasn’t like the honest thing to do is say, ‘I’m white’, because race is a social construct,” stated Dolezal to The Guardian. “And this gave me this great sense of internal freedom: I wasn’t actually all f**ked up. I was actually on to something this whole time.”No honey, we all think you are actually f**ked up. Race is not a “social construct” — it’s a matter of genetics.
But in Ms. Dolezal’s defense one must ask, if Bruce Jenner can decide he wants to be a female and we all must accept it, why can’t Rachel Dolezal decide she wants to be black?
If that’s how she “self-identifies” and feels that’s what’s in her soul, who are we to say it’s crazy? So what if her DNA shows no evidence of African ancestry. Bruce Jenner’s DNA shows no evidence of being a woman either. That hasn’t stopped HIM.
People will say “she doesn’t look black.” Isn’t that racist? How are black people supposed to look? They come in all shades. She doesn’t SOUND black. That’s even MORE racist.
If we’re supposed to accept and embrace Bruce Jenner as a woman, isn’t it an incredible double-standard not to accept and embrace Rachel Dolezal as a black woman?
Why is one ok and the other one f**ked up? C’mon liberals! Stop being so close-minded!
