Obama returns to public speaking and wouldn’t you know, the FIRST thing out of his mouth is….

While a good portion of the American public has enjoyed the last few months of Obama-free news coverage, good things are not meant to last.

Yes, the former president is making his way back into the spotlight — again — and is wasting no time in reminding the country how “cool” and “hip” he is by reminiscing about the time he used to be a pothead, smoking marijuana with his clique “The Choom Gang.”

Almost forgot what a class act this fellow is, didn’t you?

The Daily Wire is reporting, on Monday, Obama showed up for his first big event since leaving office in January. He participated in a discussion with students at the University of Chicago, where he was once a visiting professor teaching constitutional law. The avuncular Obama sat cross-legged on stage with a half dozen young people, musing about life, politics — and smoking weed.

Oh, and selfies.

“I would advise all of you to be a little more circumspect about your selfies,” Obama said to laughter.

“If you had pictures of everything I’d done when I was in high school, I probably wouldn’t have been president of the United States,” he said.

And then he segued into his days as a pot head in a group called the Choom Gang. Lest you forget, David Maraniss’ biography Barack Obama: The Story details Obama’s days of smoking marijuana with his friends in Honolulu.

“A favorite hangout was a lush hideaway called Pumping Stations, where they parked their cars, turned up Blue Oyster Cult on their stereos, ‘lit up some ‘sweet-sticky Hawaiian buds,’ and washed it down with ‘green bottle beer.’ Once stoned, Maraniss alleges, the gang was often seen slipping past the ‘keep out’ signs at the gorgeous Manoa Stream and standing under a rock where water rushed overhead,” The Week reported in a review of the book.

Obama wrapped up his trip down memory lane by giving a stern warning to our current selfie-obsessed youth to be cautious about what is photographed because stuff sticks around on the web and is easily searchable.

Notice he didn’t tell them not to do drugs, to be responsible young adults who apply themselves to their studies and work hard to make something of themselves.

No, instead, he offers advice akin to “just don’t get caught messing around.”

Oops. Unfortunately his pal Bill Clinton never got that memo.
