New poll shows Americans want a mulligan over Obama vote

I live in PGA National, a stellar golf course community. I will admit I’ve never swung a golf club, but I love running along the courses, and I often hear people talking about do-overs and mulligans. According to recent Economist/YouGov poll, seems like a lot of Americans would like to take a mulligan regarding their vote for Obama in 2012.

The Washington Examiner reports, “Given a chance to do it all over again, only 79 percent of those who voted for President Obama would vote for him again and 71 percent of Obama voters now inclined to vote for somebody else “regret” their vote to reelect the president.

The Economist/ poll found that Obama would lose enough votes in a rematch with Mitt Romney that the Republican would win. “Ninety percent of people who voted for Romney would do it again, compared to only 79 percent of Obama voters who would,” said the poll. The poll also found that among Obama voters interested in voting for somebody else, 71 percent regret their vote.

Here are some interesting stats about the level of regret among different groups:

— 80 percent of whites said yes they have regrets, 61 percent of blacks said no but 100 percent of Hispanics said yes as well (I find that hard to believe).
— 84 percent of women said yes they have regrets, and just 61 percent of men agreed.
— 55 percent of Democrats said yes, as did 71 percent of independents.

As the Examiner puts it, “Obama’s voters seemed to have moved on and are ready for the next election, giving Obama very early lame duck status before the midterm elections.”

Not to say I told you so, but I just wish the American electorate would have been more circumspect at the time of the election. What was so enthralling about an unaccomplished community organizer whose greatest claim to fame as a president was giving speeches, and as a US Senator, voting present – except for the novelty factor?

Not surprisingly, the liberal progressives are already at work trying to force another novelty candidate down the throats of the American people with Hillary Rodham Clinton as the first woman. Don’t forget, before Obamacare there was Hillarycare – can you name any major legislative accomplishments during her two terms as Senator? On that note, can you name any major achievements of Secretary of State Clinton besides frequent flier miles? Oh right, “what difference at this point does it make?”

So the question is, will the American people be fooled again? Remember, “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.” But what happens if we get fooled thrice? We lose a country.
