John McCain drops BOMBSHELL about fake Trump story

Donald Trump just finished his first press conference as the president-elect, and most of it focused on a bogus news story from Buzzfeed last night which published a 35-page document carrying explosive, but unverified, allegations about ties between the Russian government and Trump. Buzzfeed claims “the document was prepared for political opponents of Trump by a person who is understood to be a former British intelligence agent.”

While their article went viral and the story was picked up by CNN, most in the mainstream media refused to report on the claims made, as they were completely unverifiable.

And who may be really to blame for the leak of this report? A man with whom Trump has feuded in the past: Senator John McCain.

As The Hill reported: Sen. John McCain says he delivered a dossier to FBI Director James Comey late last year containing unverified claims that Russia had gathered compromising information on President-elect Donald Trump.

“Late last year, I received sensitive information that has since been made public,” McCain said in a statement on Wednesday. “Upon examination of the contents, and unable to make a judgement about their accuracy, I delivered the information to the Director of the FBI. That has been the extent of my contact with the FBI or any other government agency regarding this issue.”

The statement comes on the heels of reports that President Obama, Trump and congressional leaders were briefed on the allegations made in the dossier.

The two-page summary is based on a collection memos created by political opponents of Trump during his presidential campaign, alleging that the Russians had compromising information on Trump. The memos were purportedly compiled by a former British intelligence official.

Those memos have apparently been circulating among journalists and politicians in Washington for months, but none of the claims have been verified.

During hearings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, James Comey refused to say whether the FBI was investigating the claims made in the dossier, but noted that the Russians did not hack the Trump campaign.

Pretty fishy timing, wouldn’t you say? That CNN and BuzzFeed should drop this story the night before Trump’s first presser as president-elect?

Trump and McCain haven’t gotten along in the past. Back in July of 2015, McCain called Trump’s supporters “crazies,” which led to Trump giving a harsh response, saying, among other things, that McCain was only a war hero because he was captured. McCain did not endorse, or vote for Trump either.

It would appear McCain is finally getting revenge.
