DHS reports ASTOUNDING new border crossing numbers in wake of Trump presidency

One of the major cornerstones of the Trump campaign was to secure our border. “Build The Wall!” became a rallying cry at campaign stops. Of course, there was reason for concern. Illegal border crossings and not enforcing the law were huge problems under the previous administration. Trump promised to change that.

Since taking office, President Trump has been trying to make good on that promise. While major projects like the border wall will take action from Congress, Trump has been using his executive authority to start securing the border.

Shortly after taking office, Trump signed an executive order to step up immigration enforcement. Additionally, Trump signed a directive that allowed construction on the border wall to begin.

Although none of these measures will be as effective as the wall, they may already be working. In fact, Fox News is reporting that illegal border crossings fell almost 13,000 in Trump’s first month:

Aside from Trump’s executive orders, there could be other reasons illegal border crossings are on the decline. Since the Trump administration has stepped up deportations, potential illegal immigrants know that the U.S. is getting serious about enforcing the law. This severely lessens the incentive to cross the border.

Whatever the reason, it is clear that the first month of the Trump administration has had a profound effect on illegal immigration. Given more time, it is likely the number of those crossing illegally will drop even further. Once the border wall is in place, the United States will finally have serious enforcement of its laws.

Needless to say, President Trump has done nothing but make good on his campaign promises since taking office. Whether it’s illegal immigration, terrorism, or getting the economy moving again, Trump has continued to deliver on exactly what he said.

It may be just over a month since Trump took office, but clearly things are changing in Washington. If illegal border crossings serve as any indication, this is just the beginning.
