In a sign of just how truly insane and beyond-the-pale are the Obama administration’s recent moves on “civil rights” for transgender individuals, backlash is coming from one some rather unexpected places.Yes, even from the ranks of university professors — not known to be a conservative bunch in general — no less.
Even as political correctness runs completely amok at Ivy League institutions such as Yale and Harvard, a strong voice of reason is emanating from Princeton University.Via Breitbart:
A noted Princeton University professor has attacked the very notion of transgenderism, saying that the belief “that a woman can be trapped inside a man’s body” is ludicrous and superstitious, with no basis in medical fact.
Robert P. George, the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton, sent out a tweet late Sunday evening questioning the science behind the transgender movement, in reaction to the Obama administration’s threatening letter to educators mandating accommodation of gender-confused teenagers.
There are few superstitious beliefs as absurd as the idea that a woman can be trapped in a man’s body & vv. But in the Age of Feeling . . .— Robert P. George (@McCormickProf) May 15, 2016
George, who is also the Chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, sent our another tweet warning of the effects of the Obama letter on parents’ rights to educate their children in a safe environment.
OK, so George happens to be a rarity in our nation’s university system — a professor espousing traditional, conservative principles with a hefty dose of common sense. He is also the author of a book arguing against same-sex marriage — What Is Marriage?: Man and Woman: A Defense.
With Obama’s bathroom edict, the right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of children is in graver peril than ever. Vouchers! — Robert P. George (@McCormickProf) May 15, 2016
As such, he cuts right to the chase and minces no words in calling transgenderism “absurd.” His remedy to President Obama’s bathroom edict echoes our own Col. West’s, who suggests the best recourse is to remove our children from the public school systems in America.
George isn’t the first distinguished professor to speak out on this topic. As we shared last week, Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University and former psychiatrist–in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital Dr. Paul R. McHugh dropped the truth bomb that it’s a scientific fact that “transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men.”McHugh, who has studied transgendered people for 40 years, went on to say: Gender dysphoria—the official psychiatric term for feeling oneself to be of the opposite sex—belongs in the family of similarly disordered assumptions about the body, such as anorexia nervosa and body dysmorphic disorder,” said McHugh.
“Its treatment should not be directed at the body as with surgery and hormones any more than one treats obesity-fearing anorexic patients with liposuction,” he said.
