If it hasn’t become clear by now, the mainstream media will do all sorts of verbal gymnastics to avoid laying the blame for a terrorist attack on the actual attacker and his belief system, so long as that individual isn’t a Christian. If it happens to be a Christian behind anything bad, of course, it’s the awful hate fueled by religion, including regular Bible reading and church attendance, that’s to blame.
However, if the culprit of an act of evil is a radical Islamist, they seem to get a free pass and so-called “journalists” will push a narrative stating the attacker wasn’t “really” a Muslim or something of that nature.Which is exactly what MSNBC host Thomas Roberts did when he said the jihadi responsible for the attack in Nice, France might have been “mentally ill” and “took a moment to challenge society in a horrific way.”
The Washington Free Beacon reports, MSNBC host Thomas Roberts wondered Friday whether the killer of more than 80 people in Nice, France, was just a mentally ill person who “took a moment to challenge society in a horrific way.”
“But what if this is a one-off, Malcolm?” Roberts asked terrorism analyst Malcolm Nance. “If we get out of the analytics of potential terrorism and think about this, what if this is just a person with mental illness that took a moment to challenge society in a horrific way, and we’re not talking about that?”“We’ve seen that,” Nance said. “We call them EDPs. Extremely disturbed persons, or emotionally disturbed persons. We had a case in France last year where a man beheaded his supervisor, you know, put his head on a stake and claimed that he did it in some form of radical jihadism.”
So we have talking heads in the media now blaming both the truck itself for the attack — just look at the initial reports of the incident and you’ll see it for yourself — and saying this man was just a little kooky and wanted to “challenge society.”Notice in both of those explanations the one thing that’s missing is the role radical Islamic ideology played in inspiring this despicable individual’s actions.
We don’t know if he was mentally ill or not, but what we do know is that he was a Muslim and prescribed to a certain set of ideals that a bunch of other radicals believe and who also have shed blood in Allah’s name. And, yes, he shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he carried out the attack.
Clearly there’s a pattern here, and at the root is the religion of Islam. If we’re serious about wanting to stop this stuff, we have to accept we’re not just at war with a group of people, but a twisted religious ideology. Until we take measures to both stop terrorists physically as well as on the battlefield of ideas, we’ll never experience complete victory.
And hate to break it to Obama, a hug from Loretta Lynch ain’t gonna do it.
