As President Trump’s executive order temporarily banning travel from terror-prone countries makes its way through the court system, the battle over public opinion continues to be waged. Despite the fact that Trump was elected based on his support of such a policy, critics continue to insist that the majority of Americans are outraged by the order.By now we know media coverage of anything President Trump does won’t be fair. Coverage of the travel ban was no different, as media outlets rushed to label it a “Muslim ban,” despite the fact the vast majority of the world’s Muslim population weren’t subject to the restrictions. Almost as soon as the ink dried on the paper, the mainstream media was crafting a narrative declaring widespread opposition to the ban, and fawned over “spontaneous protests” at airports. Predictably, those protests turned out to have been planned for months, but why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
With the misinformation campaign in full swing, it might be hard to tell where the public actually stands on the job President Trump is doing so far. However, a new poll reveals that President Trump’s executive orders have enjoyed widespread support. And which one is the most popular of all? If you guessed the travel ban, you’d be right. From Business Insider:
President Donald Trump’s executive order barring refugees and people from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the US is one of his most popular so far, according to a new poll from Morning Consult and Politico.
The order has a 55% approval rating among voters polled, with 35% saying they “strongly approve.” Thirty-eight percent of voters said they disapprove.Despite all of the rhetoric about widespread opposition to the ban, polling shows the exact opposite is true. Not only that, every single one of Trump’s executive orders enjoys more support than opposition:
While the media continues to report President Trump has low approval ratings, they fail to acknowledge that his policies enjoy overwhelming support. This discrepancy could be due to the fact that Americans are bombarded with constant negativity about the man himself, yet when they are presented with his ideas individually, they find themselves in agreement.Ultimately, what the media says about President Trump won’t matter. As long as he continues to make good on the promises he made to the American people, the trust placed in him to lead the country will be justified. Trust in the media however, is a different story.
