Yes, Joe Biden ACTUALLY said this about Trump on the record…

Since the election of Donald Trump, we’ve grown used to Democrats “resisting” everything he does. In fact, before Trump even took office, Democrats were pledging to fight him every step of the way. There was even talk of filibustering his Supreme Court nominee before anyone knew who it was. Needless to say, Democrats were not willing to give Trump a chance.

It might seem like it’s impossible to find a reasonable Democrat amidst all the hysteria, but at least one prominent Party leader is able to show some common sense. Despite campaigning heavily for Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Joe Biden believes people should give Trump a chance.

Former Vice President Joe Biden declared Monday that President Trump “deserves a chance” to lead the country.

During a press conference at the University of Delaware, Mr. Biden told reporters that Mr. Trump has been “playing catch-up” since taking office because he didn’t think he was going to win and was unprepared for a smooth transition. Asked if the Republican president “deserved a chance to govern,” Mr. Biden replied, “Sure he does,” according to audio posted by The Blaze.

“That’s exactly why you haven’t seen the president on any of the shows,” the former vice president said. “He deserves a chance and in fairness to him, this is a man in my view, who understandably like all the press thought, didn’t think he was gonna win.”

Although it is unlikely Trump believed he was going to lose, Biden’s overall point is still valid. President Trump is still getting settled into office and deserves a chance to lead the country. As with any president, the jury is still out on how he will ultimately be judged. And let’s not forget that the speed of the transition wasn’t helped by Democrats obstructing all of Trump’s cabinet nominations either.

Biden’s comments came as he readies to launch the Biden Institute. However, unlike former President Obama, Biden doesn’t plan to make his new organization part of the “resistance” movement:

Mr. Biden gave a speech Monday at the University of Delaware formally launching the Biden Institute, which will focus on civic engagement and other domestic issues. While he vowed to hold Mr. Trump accountable on policies he personally disagrees with, the vice president assured the crowd of about 200 that the institute will be nonpartisan.

“It is not going to be a political organization trying to challenge Trump policy,” he said.

In a time where hysteria over Trump is at a fever pitch, it’s refreshing to hear some common sense from a prominent Democrat. We may not agree on much, but we can at least all agree on this.
