Incoming “first daughter” Ivanka Trump was a positive force during her father’s campaign for president. American voters were impressed by her articulateness, poise and grace — a strong, successful woman impressive in her own right. Now, in the wake of Trump’s victory last month, many have speculated about what role Ivanka might play in her father’s presidency — whether official or unofficial.
She herself declared on “60 Minutes” last month that she will just be a “daughter” to President Trump, noting that she will simply use her “heightened visibility” to champion working women. However, what we’ve just learned today about Ivanka’s plans for her family suggest she may play a bigger role than just “daughter” when her father takes office.
As The Daily Caller reports:
The daughter of the president-elect and her husband Jared Kushner are planning a move from New York to Washington, D.C., CNN reported Monday. The couple is currently house hunting.Ivanka and Jared have three children together — Arabella, Joseph and Theodore.
The news comes just days after a source told Politico on Thursday that Ivanka “wants to make climate change — which her father has called a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese — one of her signature issues.”
To be clear, as CNN reported, Ivanka’s move could be primarily as a wife moving with her husband for a new job opportunity. Many expect Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, may serve as an adviser to his father-in-law, President-elect Trump — though it’s as of yet unclear in exactly what capacity.“I think Jared Kushner, obviously [Trump’s] son-in-law is going to be very involved in decision-making,” White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said on NBC’s “Today” show the week after the election.
Kushner was also present with Trump when he first visited the White House after his victory, and was seen walking through the White House grounds and talking with current White House chief of staff Denis McDonough.
Regardless of her husband’s plan, Ivanka herself is signaling that she is ready to play a more active role than just loving daughter during her father’s presidency. Just days after a source close to her told Politico on Thursday that Ivanka wants to make climate change a “signature” issue, she met today with none other than the “inventor” of climate change today, Al Gore.Verrry interesting…
