You wouldn’t know it if you turned on the TV, but gun crime has been on an unprecedented decline in America. Since 1993, gun homicides have been cut in half on a per-capita basis. And that wasn’t because of strict gun control like our friends in the media want – quite the opposite. Gun sales have exploded since then.
That’s because whether they’d like to admit it or not, while guns can be used for evil, they’re very often used for good.Bearing Arms reported on just one such recent incident of guns preventing an attempted homicide at a convenience store in Washington: It was much like any other day…. until a masked man entered the store wielding a hatchet and starting swinging it toward a customer before turning his attention toward the clerk.
Thankfully, the clerk’s regular customer, a 60-year-old Seattle man, was in possession of a handgun and a concealed carry permit. He drew his gun and shot the man, immediately stopping the attack.
“Fortunately, because of this customer with his weapon, this could have been a lot worse,” said King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cindi West. The attacker is described as a man in his 40’s and medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Fox News says the King County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death and release the man’s identity at a later date. Hmm…
Witnesses say the hatchet-wielding man didn’t say a word during his grizzly attack, and although the clerk suffered minor injuries to his stomach, it could have ended much, much worse.
The story contradicts the liberal narrative in two ways. First, this man somehow discovered a way to harm people without using a firearm (something that’s never been done before!), and second, harm was thwarted with a firearm. The estimates on the frequency of self-defensive gun use per year range from the hundreds of thousands to the millions. If the media reported on that, they could fill an entire 24/7 news cycle solely with those stories.
Like THAT’S ever gonna happen.
