Fox News announces Hannity is…

With the rash of firings over at Fox News, anytime it’s announced that someone is taking a “vacation,” folks immediately assume this is code for “getting a pink slip.”

Which is exactly why the internet is buzzing about Sean Hannity’s upcoming Memorial Day vay-cay announced by Fox, despite the fact that they’ve stated he’s coming back Tuesday.

Much of the speculation surrounding Hannity has to do with his running a story on his program about DNC staffer Seth Rich, for which the pundit received a fair amount of criticism.

According to the Washington Free Beacon:

Fox News has announced that primetime host Sean Hannity will be taking a vacation over Memorial Day weekend and is scheduled to return to his show Tuesday night. The statement said that those “who suggest otherwise are going to look foolish,” according to Variety.

The statement comes at the end of a tumultuous week for Hannity, after he received criticism for pushing a conspiracy theory about the death of DNC staffer Seth Rich.

Fox News on Tuesday retracted the story suggesting Rich could have been murdered for leaking internal communications from the DNC to Wikileaks, a story Hannity promoted on his popular program.

Here’s a snippet from Fox’s statement about Hannity’s vacation:

“Like the rest of the country, Sean Hannity is taking a vacation for Memorial Day weekend and will be back on Tuesday. Those who suggest otherwise are going to look foolish.”

The Five’s Kimberly Guilfoyle was the one who announced his vacation, telling audiences their show would be filling in while he is away.

After O’Reilly and Bob Beckel have both been booted for somewhat questionable claims, it’s really not diving too far into paranoia to be worried about Hannity, especially given the pushback he received over the Seth Rich ordeal.

However, Hannity is also one of the few really big names they have left on the network, so if they don’t want to continue their ratings slide, it would seem like really bad form to oust him now.

Let’s hope that Fox News is telling the truth, and Sean is simply taking a break and really will be returning to the network.
