Last week, President Obama’s summit on “Countering Violent Extremism” suggested we need to consider the “grievances” of those who are answering the call of Islamic jihadism and terrorism. And who can forget the words of State Department spokesperson Marie Harf who hinted that jobs and better opportunities are required? As you know, I have advocated for a complete leveraging of all the elements of national power of the United States — diplomatic, informational, military, and economic, against this scourge and barbarism known as militant Islamic fascism and its state sponsors. And yes, we need to take off the gloves and go “full metal jacket” because they truly understand only strength, power, and might.
This past weekend I shared some very dire recruiting statistics from a briefing I received at the Dallas Army Recruiting Battalion. Well, it seems ISIS is happy to share a little about its recruiting efforts as well.As reported by the UK Daily Mail, “Islamic State have released a slickly-edited propaganda video showing boys as young as five being indoctrinated at a military-style training camp for ‘cubs’. In the latest disturbing PR stunt from the terror group, children are seen attending the terror training camp, named the Al Farouq Institute for Cubs, in the Raqqa province of Syria. The nine-minute video shows camouflage-clad boys standing in formation and obeying the commands of a militant teacher.”
Consider the recent editorial from the Brown University student who referred to college ROTC as training “criminals.” This conflict is truly coming down to a civilizational battle of wills — regardless of what President Obama stated last week in summarizing the summit, just a wasted feel good moment.
If we refuse to accept the ideology used to indoctrinate this next generation of jihadist fighters and Islamic terrorists, then we are spinning our wheels. The inane rejection of the enemy’s reality only leads us to one conclusion, and it’s not in our favor. After all, “when tolerance becomes a one way street, it leads to cultural suicide.”These children are not the victims of failed community programs — they are the incubators of hatred for Western and Judeo-Christian principles and values. They are being inculcated with a message of Islamic supremacy and conquest — yes, as rooted in the Koran, in Islam, post 622 AD. Those are facts, not an “ugly lie”.
Set to Arabic music, the film shows several rows of young boys, who all wear black bandanas bearing insignia associated with the group, performing drills. As they bend and stand to attention as instructed, others stand behind them holding up flags. The ‘teacher’ – also in camouflage – asks questions and the children shout the answer in unison. The boys are also seen as they pray in rows – but chillingly, they are led by a teacher who prays in front of a pair of guns. And perhaps the Obama administration and all the attendees at the countering violent extremism summit should ask themselves if this is not about Islam and religion, why are these boys being led in prayer?
Consider the comparative analysis of how we in America view programs like high school JROTC — remember the New York City borough councilman who wanted the program canceled? I consistently heard from LTC Patton last Friday about the push back at schools towards his recruiters. Consider how many men and women in America, as a percentage of the population, have actually served our nation in uniform. Hint: it’s less than five percent. And we hear folks claim being “war weary” — look at this video and tell me if it looks like this enemy is “war weary?” And this is just ISIS. We haven’t even considered groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, al-Qaida and Boko Haram.
Let me remind y’all of the “Hitler Youth” and tell me this isn’t along the same lines. As a matter of fact, the UK Daily Mail alludes to that point as well saying, “While the recruitment of child soldiers is a war crime, Islamic State have long groomed children to take part in jihad – in a similar way to how Nazi Germany preyed on impressionable youngsters with the creation of the Hitler Youth.”“Pictures posted on ISIS-linked social media accounts have included babies posing with guns and young children holding up the heads of beheading victims. The terror group has reportedly been recruiting children under 15 to special camps established specifically to brainwash minors with their extremist ideology. Children are taught how to use weapons and even shown how to behead using dolls. ‘They teach them how to use AK-47s,’ an Iraqi security official told NBC News. ‘They use dolls to teach them how to behead people, then they make them watch a beheading, and sometimes they force them to carry the heads in order to cast the fear away from their hearts.’ “
“Since ISIS made Raqqa its de facto capital, reports have told of many of the area’s citizens fleeing their homes due to forced conscription. A father said his life was threatened when he opposed his 13-year-old son’s attendance at a training camp.”
In other words, these young boys are being taught to be desensitized to brutality and savagery. This training combined with the Islamic totalitarian supremacy indoctrination will create several generations of jihadists. In contrast, our culture is indoctrinating our kids in America to accept marijuana smoking and playing video games.
And when you look at the result of the Academy Awards, you can see the high disconnect between the American populace and the cultural and entertainment elite. A film like “American Sniper” is overwhelmingly successful yet it is not recognized for any major award because it doesn’t fit into the accepted message emanating from Hollywood — just as Zero Dark Thirty and Lone Survivor were dismissed.
Birdman? Doggone until I was watching the news today, I had no idea what it was.
However, there is a global enemy growing and developing generational levels of fighters. We instead have those who believe ROTC trains criminals and Chris Kyle went on “killing sprees.”
We are in a bad space right now.
