How many more dumb things will progressive socialists in the Democrat Party say before they are defeated in the November midterm elections? We told you about the Iowa congressional candidate Pat Murphy, who stated that if we didn’t grant amnesty to illegals they’d be driven to terrorism. Then we had Alabama congressional candidate JT Smith stating that the House GOP is worse than ISIS. Additionally, we had DNC Chairwoman and Congressional Representative, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz comparing Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to a wife beater. Now, you’d think it would be damn hard to top those three. But nope — leave it up to the desperation of the Democrats.
As reported by the National Review, “Though the president has become a political liability for Democrats this election season, he hasn’t lost all of his allies in the Senate. In his first debate with Republican challenger Cory Gardner, Colorado senator Mark Udall stood behind Obama’s cautious approach. In the course of an hour-long debate with Gardner in Grand Junction, Colo., Udall said that “ISIL does not present an imminent threat to this nation.” He cited his membership on the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee to substantiate that assertion, and he even invoked the names of the American journalists murdered at the hands of the Islamic State in the course of his pleas for restraint. “I can tell you,” Udall said, “Steve Sotloff and James Foley would tell us, don’t be impulsive. Horrible and barbarous as those executions were, don’t be impulsive, come up with a plan to knock ISIL back.”I am not making this up. Here it is in living color.
I don’t think it’s impulsive to strike back and destroy ISIS. They’ve declared war on America and beheaded two American citizens. I’ve said this before: where was the caution in supporting and arming Islamists in Libya? I don’t recall Senator Udall speaking out against “impulsive” actions in that case. Why is it that Udall would choose to invoke the names of the two beheaded Americans? Folks, if any Republican were to invoke the names of Foley and Sotloff, they’d be utterly destroyed by the progressive socialist media. Can you imagine if Senate challenger Rep. Cory Gardner had made this statement: “The voices of James Wright Foley and Steven Sotloff are calling from their graves crying to America to avenge our savage and barbaric deaths.” Man, ol’ Cory would be pummeled. Here again we have the preeminent example of media hypocrisy – and completely misguided.Senator Udall didn’t get enough out of his initial insidious statement. As the National Review reports, “in an interview, Mark Udall, who supports air strikes against the Islamic State, argued that the militants are attempting to bait the U.S. into taking brash action. They very well might even welcome a more aggressive U.S. effort. “We need to understand what they’re trying to do,” he told Colorado’s 9News, “which is to cause us to rush in, not think through what our strategy is.”
So according to Udall, we should just sit back and be careful because ISIS is trying to trick us into getting engaged in combat with them. I suppose Udall is also cool with the Obama three-year strategy. Guess what? ISIS is cool with that as well. Remember, it was Obama’s thirty days of caution that led to a “dry hole” raid operation to rescue Foley and quite possibly Sotloff inside Syria. I would have preferred some rash actions back in January when ISIS was approximately 1,500 to 2,000 fighters — but then again, they were just a “JV” team. Where do we find these chuckleheads like Udall?
Udall doesn’t believe ISIS presents an imminent threat to the United States? When you behead an American citizen, this is what I refer to as an imminent threat. When you have two Americans from Minneapolis killed on the battlefield in Syria fighting for ISIS, that is an imminent threat. When you have the social media guru for ISIS graduate from a high school in Stoughton, Massachusetts and attend Northeastern University, that is an imminent threat. When you have a porous U.S. southern border, that is an imminent threat. However, when you have a dismissive United States president and a Senator like Udall, that is also an imminent threat.Adolf Hitler had Chamberlain and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has Obama. Who will step up and be our modern day Winston Churchill?
The intransigent, anti-war, ideological Left is paralyzing America with its incessant recalcitrance to protect our nation. We must recognize and then defeat evil. The Left should be reminded of the words of John Stuart Mill from the Principles of Political Economy:
“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.”
