I wasn’t surprised when glam-bam terrorist Dzhokhar Tsarnaev showed up on the cover of Rolling Stone to the delight of pubescent girls everywhere. So is it really any shock that “sexy felon” Jeremy Meeks now has an agent and, according to TMZ, a $30,000 modeling contract? Oh yes, my friends.
In addition to his ELEVEN felony counts, history of convictions and $1 million bail, 30-year-old Meeks also has over 100,000 Facebook “likes” for his mugshot on the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page and a “GoFundMe” page started by his mother to raise money for his defense.According to The Independent, Meeks now also has an agent in the shape of former porn star Gina Rodriguez who counts among her clients such stellar talents as Donald Sterling’s former mistress, V. Stiviano.
However, Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Darren Kavinoky is not quite as optimistic about a bright showbiz future for Meeks. He told Fox411: “It’s totally insane and it speaks poorly of where we are. We are so enamoured with appearance and attractiveness that we are willing to totally disregard that we’re talking [about] somebody who is a criminal, someone who has a long rap sheet and a history of convictions.
“His current allegations involve weapons possession by somebody who society has deemed should not possess guns. If the allegations against him are true, he appears to be a very, very bad boy.”Isn’t it interesting how guns (and bombs) in the hands of someone attractive are conveniently overlooked by our shallow, clueless, morally-bankrupt culture? What a shame for James Holmes and Jared Loughner that they came up short in the looks department. No one is hoping for their release. No one is trying to make up excuses for their criminal (and deranged behavior).
But if you’re hot, with sexy tattoos or tousled hair, you can get away with almost anything. It is a terrible indictment of how far our culture has declined that we’re not just celebrating immorality (that’s SO Miley Cyrus) but now violence, destruction and death.God help us.
