It never ceases to amaze me how the progressive socialist left seeks to define the narrative to their political advantage. Once again, the fascist left has determined that an Islamic jihadist attack, which slaughtered 49 innocent Americans provides them a great opportunity. They continue to embrace Rahm Emanuel’s mantra of “never let a good crisis go to waste” — and have turned the second worst Islamic terror attack in U.S. history into a crusade for gun control. Funny, it appears that the left, aided by their complicit henchmen of the liberal progressive media, only seem to tell us half the story. For example, here’s the other half.
As reported Pix11.com, “An armed man was gunned down by a retired NYPD officer as he allegedly robbed patrons at a Queens bar on Monday. The fatal shooting happened at Parkside Pub on 149th Street in Whitestone at 3:53 a.m.Police said 24-year-old Andrew McClean walked into the pub waving a gun and announced a robbery. He took money from the cash register and then stole from some customers before the former cop fatally shot him, according to police.
The cop, identified by police sources as 69-year-old Robert Beardsley, retired in 1975. His police officer instincts kicked in Monday. He fired one round hitting the robber in the head killing him.
The New York Daily News says The former cop who fatally shot a would-be robber in a Queens pub “acted properly from what we can see right now,” according to the NYPD’s chief of detectives. The 69-year-old cop shot and killed Andrew McClean, 24, after McLean stuck up the Parkside Pub on 139th St. near 24th Rd. in Flushing early Monday, authorities said.
McLean, who brandished a semiautomatic handgun, cleaned out the bar’s register, then tried to rob three customers, cops said.
He had already robbed the ex-cop, but when he moved-on, the former lawman reached for a gun in an ankle holster, but dropped it, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.“He felt that the perpetrator heard that. So when he came up, saw the individual pointing the gun,” Boyce said.
The ex-cop retrieved his .30-caliber and fired, shooting McClean in the head, cops said.
So why don’t we hear about this from Barack Obama or Jeh Johnson? Does anyone believe that ol’ Robert Beardsley will be on the Today Show, or maybe he’ll get to be on with Stephen Colbert? You just have to admire one shot, one kill…to the head. Now, perhaps the liberal progressive media would have preferred McClean to have successfully robbed, then shot everyone in the establishment. That would have played much better in the news, I presume.
The fact that a 69-year-old former police officer used a firearm, legally, and lethally, to take down a criminal — who perhaps had a criminal record — is something that should be celebrated. Except this doesn’t fit the narrative of the liberal progressive media and the socialist leftists who seek to disarm Americans.
Consider this, at a time when President Obama is releasing scores of criminals from prison, why does he ramble on about gun control? The report doesn’t say anything about how McClean acquired his weapon — and regretfully, thanks to Officer Beardsley, he cannot tell us. However, one can presume it wasn’t attained through legal means.
This is what armed citizens are able to do: protect themselves. That is the purpose of the Second Amendment. But consider the recent ruling of the 9th Circuit Court in California. What Officer Beardsley just did could land him in jail if he resided in that state chock full of fruit loop nut cases in political positions. That court ruled the Second Amendment has no relevance when it comes to concealed weapons carry permit, and that self-defense is not a logical reason for such…tell that to the folks at the Parkside Pub in Queens.
Hey, I gotta wonder, will New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio recognize Beardsley for his heroic act? Or is the fella, whom former NYPD Detective Bo Dietl affectionately calls, “Mayor Big Bird,” seething knowing that an American used his right to keep and bear arms to protect fellow patrons and Americans? I tend to believe de Blasio will choose the latter.
I‘m sending former Officer Robert Beardsley a hearty “Steadfast and Loyal” shout out. And I gotta tell y’all, wherever range he goes to for practice, I need to hang out there. That guy is a crack shot! Special hat tip, brother!
