Never did I think John Boehner would make an election prediction I (The Analytical Economist) would pray come true.He may think Ted Cruz is Lucifer, and if that’s the case, I’d love to know who he compares Hillary Clinton to. Though he didn’t hint at that question, he did make a declaration about the presumptive Democrat nominee that just may spark some cheers from this audience.
As The Hill reports:Former Speaker John Boehner Thursday said he wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary Clinton ends up withdrawing from the presidential race.
Addressing the SALT Conference in Las Vegas, the former Speaker suggested that Democrats might have to turn to Vice President Biden to be their 2016 nominee. [Side note: As unbearable as the thought of a Hillary Clinton presidency is, we do have to consider whether she’s the easier Dem to beat at this point. Col. West had some thoughts on this here.]
Republicans have long speculated that the FBI investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server could result in criminal charges, wounding her candidacy. He also had a few other predictions, which were live tweeted by those at the conference:
John Boehner: ‘Anyone who thinks Donald Trump can’t win, just watch. This is going to be a pres. campaign like we’ve never seen.’ #SALT2016

Boehner: Republicans may not be unified around Trump but they are unified in wanting to win the White House #SALT2016— SALTConference (@SALTConference) May 12, 2016
Boehner: GOP will hold the House of Reps in the fall elections #SALT2016

These comments come as the FBI is wrapping up its investigation into Hillary’s private email server. It’s a shot in the dark, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.
