Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) forces are led by hard-line Islamists who beat, intimidate and arrest the country’s Christians — and they’ve been busy lately.
Fox News reports that “Two Christian pastors from South Sudan who traveled north to Sudan and were arrested on charges of spying could face the death penalty when their trial begins next week, according to their attorneys.”
“Yat Michael Ruot and Peter Yein Reith, both Presbyterian pastors from the breakaway Christian nation of South Sudan, are being held by Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services on charges of undermining the constitution and espionage. Their supporters say their arrest and pending trial is just the latest effort by the militant Islamist government in Khartoum to stamp out Christianity.” The pair also was charged with “inciting organized groups” (in other words gathering together with a few other Christians for prayer or Bible study) and “offending Islamic beliefs,” (does that sound like anything you’ve heard lately?) which call for imprisonment.”
This my friends just shows the genius of our founding fathers –who knew the peril of allowing the government to be in charge of religion. And to our eternal shame, our government is taking no action that we know of to try and save these and other Christians who are being killed every day in foreign countries. If President Obama is determined to empty out GITMO (and doesn’t care about the implications for our national security) why not trade the terrorists for the lives of these pastors? Why are we fast tracking the entry of thousands of Syrians into this country and leaving the resettlement of Christians to the UN? Why not use our “pens and phones” to save these Christians instead of spending millions of dollars on the farce of climate change?
But I suppose it’s no surprise our government won’t lift a finger to help Christians. As a nation we’re busily persecuting them ourselves. Forget bakers and pizza makers for a moment. Just look at our military. We reported today about a Marine who was court-martialed for DARING to display a Bible verse on her desk!
Why should we care about the plight of Christians abroad when we don’t care about them here?Remember Meriam Ibrahim? She was also a victim of the insanity that is militant Islam. She was thrown in prison in Khartoum with her two-year-old child while pregnant. Her case became an international cause after she was forced to give birth in a filthy cell with no medical attention. Ibrahim, who was sentenced to death for the crime of apostasy – converting from Islam to Christianity, was released and permitted to travel to the U.S. after a fire storm of international efforts to free her.
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, a hard-liner, vowed to lead the charge to take Sudan back to the stone ages, instituting an Islamic state operating under the strictest interpretation of Sharia Law. You know what that means. Only the Muslim religion and the Arabic language are legal and if you’re not ok with that, off with your head.Suspiciously though, the NISS officials have demanded $12,000 from the Church for the release of the pastors-proving that they are no better than legalized kidnappers and that it’s not a matter of religious principal. Just like the Western capitalists they love to hate it’s ABOUT THE MONEY. Local church leaders said they are fearful to pay this amount, prompting the NISS to arrest other Christians in order to make the same monetary demands.
