I couldn’t find a better quote to describe the evolution of the Trump campaign, and the media’s reaction to it over the past year.
Most (myself included) didn’t initially take the Trump campaign seriously. And why would I after he dangled the possibility in front of our faces in 2012 only to rip it away in front of our eyes?
Besides, wouldn’t the media hound him for his political incorrectness, sinking his campaign?
In July of 2015, Trump was ranked 13th in favorability among the Republican candidates. The statistics blog FiveThirtyEight branded him the “Nickelback” of candidates.
It hasn’t even been a year, and myself, and the rest of the media couldn’t have been further off. It’s a surprise – but a pleasant one, that anti-PC rhetoric is attracting voters, not driving them away.It’s now March – and Trump is the most favorable candidate among Republicans according to data from YouGov (obtained via the Gateway Pundit):
I’d almost say that all Trump has to do now is become more favorable in the eye of the general public (where he still suffers) – but in reality all he has to do is be viewed more favorably than Hillary Clinton. And how hard could that possibly be?
