In the run-up to this Sunday’s Super Bowl, much of the country has been focused on the issue of “deflated balls.” I find it to be a sad metaphor for our nation’s foreign policy.
First of all, let’s talk about those tapes that have emerged showing the Pentagon had so little trust in the State Department that, along with former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, they opened up their own line of communications with Gaddafi’s son and others. You really have to wonder what was the goal and objective of the Obama administration in Libya? Were Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton secretly in support of the Islamists and the Muslim Brotherhood? Sure seems that way.
As reported by the Washington Times, ” The tapes, reviewed by The Washington Times and authenticated by the participants, chronicle U.S. officials’ unfiltered conversations with Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s son and a top Libyan leader, including criticisms that Mrs. Clinton had developed tunnel vision and led the U.S. into an unnecessary war without adequately weighing the intelligence community’s concerns.”
There can be no doubt that these allegations are very damning for supposed Democrat presidential candidate Clinton – maybe that’s why she stated her campaign decision would be delayed to July. It’s best to allow time for bad news to be forgotten by the American people. However, the tough questions will come and the dark specter of Libya is just one of the concerns for the Hillary Clinton machine.
Another dark cloud that will hang over the former Secretary of State will be Russia. Y’all remember that cute little yellow toy with the red button? The Russian “reset button?” What a joke. Well, the man who brought us “perestroika,” former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, has some interesting observations in which he believes we’re on the verge of a confrontation between Russia and the West.
We certainly are on the brink of something when you see the violence still going on between Russia and the Ukraine. My concern is that Vladimir Putin will not respond as we logically think he will. In order to restore the pride and honor of Russia in the midst of a failing economy, he could just lash out. And guess what? We’re certainly in no position to take any firm action — and I don’t think President Obama has the will to do so anyway.Heck, the official talking points from the Obama administration now are that the Taliban are just some really angry dudes — you know, armed insurgents, not a terrorist organization.
If Obama and his disciples cannot bring themselves to say what we all know the Taliban is, and has been declared as such, there’s no way the progressive leftists will stand up to Russia. Just yesterday there was an insider attack at the Kabul airport that resulted in the death of three U.S. contractors. (I was never relaxed when sitting at Kabul airport). You see, the declarative statement by Obama that “combat operations have ended” is not synonymous with victory. As a matter of fact, when coming from Obama’s lips, it’s synonymous with surrender and defeat. It reflects a lack of resolve and the hopeless desire to just quit. I don’t recall the enemy ending combat operations or agreeing with Obama to do so.
We’ve now redefined the Taliban in a way that provides comfort to the Obama administration because they don’t want to be held accountable for releasing five senior leaders of the Taliban for a deserter.
So, the fact that we now have reports that one of the released Taliban leaders was intercepted calling his ol’ friends back in Afghanistan is just no big deal. Hey, maybe he was just calling out to Papa John’s for a pizza he can eat with a knife and fork.
Yes, I jest because taken all together, this isn’t just sad, it is deeply disturbing, and actually infuriating.
As a career military officer and battlefield commander it is infuriating to have to sit and watch the folding of our flag in the face of countless threats. The apparent weakness of America is enticing to the wolves of the world.
Doggone, even North Korea and the pudgy little fat-faced fella is restarting their nuclear bomb fuel reactor after a five year hiatus. Shoot, why not get in while the getting is good?
I’m quite sure Kim Jong Un believes that if Obama is willing to allow Iran to have nuclear capability, then why not him? And to think how many extensions to negotiations we’ve allowed with Iran?
President Obama talks tough with Congress threatening a veto on sanctions — why not talk tough with the real enemy? Nah, that would require courage. Courage to Obama is dispatching former campaign staffers to Israel to undermine our ally and a true leader, Prime Minister Netanyahu.
True courage is a foreign concept to liberal progressive socialists and that’s what really chaps their bottoms about the success of the movie “American Sniper.”
Just consider this fella on MSNBCs Morning Joe who had the gall to refer to US Navy SEAL Chief Chris Kyle as a “racist” and someone who went out on “killing sprees.” Disgusting and despicable, but I must admit, hat tip to Joe Scarborough for challenging him on that insidious and stupid statement.
But that’s the mentality that occupies the White House, ladies and gents. A mentality that despises a warrior like Kyle but embraces, supports, and secretly hides away a deserter like Bowe Bergdahl. There is no other explanation of why the left is going apoplectic over “American Sniper” while keeping silent on Bergdahl.
One man bravely stood against evil, even sacrificing his relationship with his family. Another ran away before the enemy and somehow managed to come back healthy after five years of being in captivity — that does not compute.
We are living, as the ancient Chinese proverb says, “in interesting times.” My prayer is that we right the ship.
