College football preview from Silverthorne, Colorado

Greetings everyone, from the picturesque McVaney TYL Ranch in Silverthorne, Colorado. This weekend I’m speaking at a Centennial Institute of Colorado Christian University retreat. Took a little run this morning and yep, going from sea level to 9,000 ft ain’t easy. But what a scenic venue and it gave me time to relax and take in the beauty of the Rocky Mountain state and God’s presence.

Well, it is again, my favorite day in the fall, college football Saturday. Last week, I was traveling from Greenwich CT to Salisbury MD and had to get text message updates on my Tennessee Vols game against the Georgia Bulldogs — second straight year, heartbreaking loss this time 35-32. Today the Florida Gators come to Knoxville and it would do my heart well to have the Vols beat up on the Gators — I truly believe they can this year as the team looks good and Coach Butch Jones has done a phenomenal job in his second year.

My other favorite team, Kansas State, will be hosting the Texas Tech Red Raiders — always a team you can’t take for granted.

And the upsets have already started, Thursday night number two Oregon went down in a close one to Arizona — don’t know if the Ducks will make it to the championship playoff. And there are some other great games this weekend. Down on the plains, Auburn will have LSU visiting and it was LSU who gave War Damn Eagle their only conference loss last year. LSU had a miserable performance against Miss State, advantage Auburn. Another good SEC matchup will pit the surprising Texas A&M Aggies against Miss State. As well, in what may be a sleeper, number three Alabama heads to Oxford to take on number eleven Ole Miss — did you hear that “Ole Miss” is now considered racist? Jeepers, when will the progressive socialists just leave us alone!?

Other key games to watch out for will be if Texas can get on track and pull the upset of number seven Baylor in Austin — methinks not. And other key games will be Stanford heading to South Bend to take on Notre Dame ranked number nine and looking quite good….and is the Big Red of Nebraska back? We shall see as they travel to East Lansing to take on the Spartans of Michigan State in the nightcap.

So who is your favorite team playing today, if I didn’t list here? What I love about college football is the passion and the spirit. I wish somehow we could garner that to crush ISIS.
