I don’t believe political party is as important as principle. Furthermore, the message should be based upon policy inclusiveness and not outreach. Therefore, when conservatives base their message on principle and articulate the pertinent policies, they will have success with the electorate — principle can win over party. And the most recent case of that premise just occurred in Wisconsin, with the primary win of Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.
I first met Sheriff Clarke back in 2011 when we held a Conservative Black forum on Capitol Hill. In fact, we wrote about his pro-gun speech at the NRA convention here.
Sheriff Clarke is not a Republican — he is a registered Democrat. However, he and I share a common vision based upon principle. He has been extremely successful and someone whom I hold in high esteem. However, there are those who do not hold Sheriff Clarke in high esteem — namely one former Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg.
As reported by the Washington Times, “A pro-gun incumbent sheriff in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, beat back the anti-gun money of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to win his primary contest for re-election by a handy margin, 52-48 percent. Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat, is now almost sure to win in November because no Republican is challenging him, The Washington Post reported.”
We reported earlier this week about Tiffany Koehler who switched from Democrat to Republican and ran for State Assembly in Wisconsin — she left the Left because she was rejected for her pro-life stance. And so it goes for that party of inclusiveness and tolerance. It just seems that Democrats define tolerance as “being accepted as long as you accept our positions.”Now, I just have to ask the obvious question — is Michael Bloomberg a racist? After all he is white and did politically target a black Democrat? Oh boy, y’all should see the smile on my face typing that!
The Washington Times says “the race took on national tones just last week when Mr. Bloomberg — who helps head the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group and who has taken up a personal crusade to scale back Second Amendment rights — threw in $150,000 to defeat Sheriff Clarke. That amount was more than what Sheriff Clarke and his opponent, Chris Moews, spent on their entire campaigns. So what made Bloomberg target THIS particular Sheriff?”Well, as we stated, Sheriff Clarke was a featured speaker at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Indianapolis — during which he harshly criticized Mr. Bloomberg’s anti-gun efforts. Looks like the little big man got his knickers all tight and decided to make it personal.
Sheriff Clarke made national headlines with a public service ad in 2013 in which Townhall reported he stated, in part: “I’m Sheriff David Clarke and I want to talk to you about something personal: Your safety. It’s no longer a spectator sport. I need you in the game. But are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. … Consider taking a certified safety course in handling of firearms, so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?”
Yes sir, Sheriff Clarke, you can certainly count on me, and many others. You sir, are a man of principle and courage, and we salute you and congratulate you on winning reelection as Sheriff in Milwaukee County. And I just have to say, you are a man of honor, integrity, and character that I would proudly support as Director of the FBI. Your story is nowhere near completion and your service to our nation is just at the tip of the iceberg.
I will be speaking at Marquette University in September, Sheriff Clarke. I hope we can find time to link up again.
Steadfast and Loyal!
