Six officers shot over the weekend; media SILENT over one CHILLING similarity

There are so many protests and marches being held, but there’s one group that never has a march held on its behalf.

As a member of the U.S. military we stand on watch, but there are times when we may never get the call out.
However, there’s a certain group that not only stands guard but is always deployed, daily. These are our men and women on the Thin Blue Line. They are our everyday guardians, and we cannot thank them enough for what they do each day, telling their loved ones goodbye.

And so it is, again, that we bid members of that line a final farewell.

As reported by Fox News, “A second Florida police officer died Saturday after he and a colleague were shot while scuffling with a suspect. The Kissimmee Police Department issued a statement late Saturday afternoon saying Sgt. Richard “Sam” Howard had died of his injuries. His colleague, Officer Matthew Baxter, died Friday night.

Everett Glen Miller, 45,  has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Baxter, Kissimmee Police Chief Jeff O’Dell said earlier Saturday at a news conference.  O’Dell said it does not appear that Miller, a Marine veteran, has an extensive criminal history but authorities are still investigating.

The two officers were in the Palmway and Cypress area of Kissimmee checking out a report of a suspicious person at approximately 9:27 p.m. Soon afterward, a 911 call came in, saying the officers had been shot, O’Dell said. The officers did not return fire, and it appears they were surprised, the police chief said, adding that authorities are still talking to witnesses to determine the timeline of events.

Sheriff’s deputies with a neighboring law enforcement agency later tracked Miller down to a bar and approached him. Miller started reaching toward his waistband when the deputies tackled and subdued him, O’Dell said. “They were extremely brave and heroic actions were taken by the deputies,” O’Dell said.”

What is disconcerting to me is that over this past weekend we had six law enforcement officers shot between Florida and Pennsylvania. And in these cases, we find that our LEOs did not approach with their weapons drawn. In other words, they ceded the initiative, the advantage, to the assailant, the criminal, the suspect. We’ve seen this occur in our deployed combat zones where restrictive rules of engagement have allowed the enemy to have a decided advantage and freedom of maneuver and operation against our deployed forces. Now, here on our streets, because of the delusional and ignorant actions of leftist progressive socialist groups, such as Black Lives Matter, our men and women in blue are self-constraining themselves.

Just as in Operation Red Wing, the US Navy SEAL reconnaissance mission made known in the book and movie “Lone Survivor,” we had our finest warriors, Navy SEALS more concerned about our media than their mission being compromised. And we know that in that case, three of the four-man SEAL reconnaissance team lost their lives due to a fateful decision.

And now it’s playing out on our streets that our law enforcement officers fear the demonizing and disparagement of the media and a group like BLM. It’s causing them to be overly cautious, and as we who have been engaged in exchanges of gunfire know, it only takes 2-3 seconds before someone dies. In this case, we have two honorable men in Kissimmee Florida for whom there will be no answer when the shift roll call is read.

And where are the protest marches for them? Where is the national outrage that we are allowing criminal elements to have a decided advantage over those sworn to protect us? How long can this continue to be the modus operandi, and how many of our law enforcement officers are we willing to lose just to appease jackasses that shout, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon” or “What do we want, dead cops, when do we want them, now?”

No one is advocating for police violence or brutality, and if it does occur, the officers responsible should and will be punished under the full extent of the law. But what caused the deaths of Officer Matthew Baxter and Sergeant Richard “Sam” Howard can be traced right back to a former U.S. president who claimed the police in Cambridge, Massachusetts “acted stupidly”…funny, no one lays any blame at the foot of Barack Obama for stoking the fires of angst against our police officers. After all, why would Obama invite a group like BLM into the White House and speak of them with glowing praise?

No more! We need our law enforcement officers to know we support them. We need them to know that we respect their call to duty and do not want them to self-impose restrictive rules of engagement to appease those who hate them and denigrate them. We highly regard their sense of honor and their sacrifice.

You want blame? I blame the liberal progressive socialist left and their media accomplices for creating the atmosphere that led to the deaths of Baxter and Howard over the weekend. Sadly so, there will be no rallies on their behalf. The liberal progressive media will not be covering their tragic deaths with non-stop coverage, which would be completely different if they’d shot Everett Glen Miller.

We must ask ourselves, how in the heck did we get so freaking screwed up?
