Donald Trump has the most Jewish First family ever seen in the White House. And his relationship with Israel is arguably the closest of any president in American history. So one would assume that of all of the perfectly valid criticisms that could be made about Donald Trump, one such criticism would not be — that he’s allied with an organization as anti-Semitic and anti-Israel as the KKK.
Yet here we are.
The Daily Wire reports:
The covers of the latest issues of both The New Yorker and The Economist make the same unsubtle, incendiary statement: President Donald Trump is deliberately empowering white supremacists. The New Yorker cover shows Trump in a small sail boat, his voice filling the sail, which is shaped like the iconic KKK hood, eye-holes, pointed top and all. The Economist cover shows Trump speaking through a megaphone that likewise looks like the hood of a Klansman. Neither cover appears to have any text referencing the inflammatory image.
These inflammatory images can be seen below:
According to The Hill:
The cover art, titled “Blowhard” by artist David Plunkert, focuses on Trump’s statements Tuesday in which he blamed “both sides” for violence caused by white nationalists in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend that left one dead and dozens injured.Trump said there were “very fine people on both sides” of the protest that included neo-Nazis.
“President Trump’s weak pushback to hate groups — as if he was trying not to alienate them as voters — compelled me to take up my pen,” Plunkert said in a press release.
And it is also noteworthy that — like the Neo-Nazis and Klansmen — the Antifa protestors on the other side belong to an organization that is knee-deep in anti-Semitism.
In a post at Legal Insurrection, William Jacobson reports on the alliance between Antifa and the anti-Israel Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement:
The teaming of the BDS and Antifa movements is the single most dangerous development I have witnessed in the many years I have been covering campus BDS. Antifa will give BDS even more muscle to intimidate and threaten those who oppose the BDS agenda.
To be clear, the BDS movement, even according to the liberal Huffington Post, is “a sophisticated hate movement committed to the destruction of the Jewish people.”
So, in the interest of fair play, if Trump is to be slurred on the covers of national magazines this week for not adequately condemning the bigotry of the Klan, then who among the many prominent progressives who have supported Antifa’s demonstrations will be on their covers next week?
