Radio host and author Michael Savage published a book in 2015 called Stop the Coming Civil War in which he warns of a coming ideological battle between right and left.As we witness the violent outbursts of this weekend, between the far left and the far right, one has to wonder if he was onto something. Hopefully not, but the signs aren’t good.
In reaction to the white supremacist protests in Charlottesville, Virginia yesterday that left one dead and 19 injured – several critically – protests are apparently spreading.Per the San Francisco Chronicle, Hundreds of protesters marched through Oakland on Saturday night, with some briefly blocking traffic on the Interstate 580 freeway in what organizers called an “emergency solidarity” demonstration in response to the violence at a white supremacist rally in Virginia that left one woman dead and many injured.
The rally was largely peaceful, although police gave the order to disperse shortly after 9:30 p.m. when about three dozen protesters moved up the I-580 off-ramp at Grand Avenue and then linked hands on the freeway to stop traffic. Others then launched illegal fireworks into the air.
Traffic was completely blocked for a time on the freeway as police stopped traffic to avoid hitting the protesters. After several minutes, the protesters left the freeway and continued marching on city streets as motorists honked support.Earlier in the day, Bay Area politicians were among the flood of officials condemning the bloody clashes in Charlottesville and President Trump’s equivocal response, in which he did not single out neo-Nazis, members of the Ku Klux Klan or white nationalists, insisting that “hatred, bigotry and violence” were coming from “many sides.”
Trump is right after all; hatred, bigotry and violence is coming from “many sides” — remember it was violent protest from “Antifa” members at UC Berkeley who broke windows, started fires and prevented conservatives Ann Coulter and Milo yiannopoulos from speaking. Of course that doesn’t justify any of it, and it certainly doesn’t justify the death of a woman simply expressing her First Amendment right.
However that didn’t stop California politicians from blaming Trump for her death.

It’s hard not to think the opening salvos are being fired in Savage’s civil war. We must pray this is not the case.
