When it comes to immigration, the president is a man of his word!A key component as to why Trump defeated Hillary “What Happened” Clinton is his promise to reduce illegal immigration.
According to Jeffrey Anderson in his piece at Real Clear Politics:Among the one-eighth of voters who said immigration was the most important issue, however, Trump won by a 2-to-1 margin (64 to 32 percent)—the equivalent of about 5 million votes. In the states where Trump breached the “Blue Wall,” his margins on immigration were even bigger.
Trump has not completely fulfilled all his promises on immigration in the few months in office, but it is clear he is moving towards doing so.
CNS News reports:According to [Department of Justice’s Executive Office of Immigration Review from Feb. 1, 2017 to July 31, 2017] data, there were 49,983 total orders of removals, which is up 27.8 percent over the same time period in 2016, when there were only 39,113 total removal orders.
Also, the total number of removal and voluntary departures spiked 30.9 percent to 57,069 compared to 43,595 during the same time period last year.
And finally, the total final decisions made by immigration judges rose 14.5 percent to 73,127 during the first six months of the Trump administration compared to 63,850 during the same period in 2016.The report left no room for doubt as to the cause of this decline:
The DOJ attributed the data to President Donald Trump’s executive order, “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements,” which called on the DOJ to mobilize over 100 existing immigration judges to Department of Homeland Security detention facilities nationwide.
“Over 90 percent of these cases have resulted in orders requiring aliens to depart or be removed from the United States. The Justice Department has also hired 54 additional Immigration Judges since President Trump took office, and continues to hire new Immigration Judges each month,” the DOJ said on its website.Already there have been positive consequences to this decrease in illegal immigration.
As Breitbart proclaims:
In a three-day period ending on Monday, Border Patrol agents arrested three men from Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras after they illegally crossed the Texas/Mexico Border. All three of the men had criminal records that include convictions for sexual crimes against young children.
Perhaps these men would have been stopped at the border regardless of the decline in illegal immigration, but these arrests — and others like them — clearly underscore the dangers of having undocumented aliens enter our country unimpeded.
