Who knew CNN would take up the role of “internet morality police” for the rest of us?After President Donald Trump posted a video on Twitter showing him tackling World Wrestling Entertainment founder Vince McMahon (with a CNN logo imposed over his face), CNN decided to try to play the victim, as if this tweet was going to lead to an epidemic of journalists being body-slammed by rogue pro-Trump vigilantes.

Taking things a step further, CNN decided to take the liberty of identifying the Reddit user who created the image (who turned out to be a 15-year-old kid), then threatened to release his identity if he doesn’t tone down his web presence (as he’d made a number of racist and anti-Semitic comments on Reddit). After noting that the Reddit user responsible had apologized profusely for his other comments, that’s when CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski admits to blackmailing the kid (and yes, the kid’s screen name really is HanA**holeSolo).
While no one is condoning the comments for which the kid has since apologized, it was a bit odd to see CNN taking on the role of Big Brother, keeping tabs on the subject of a story to make sure he stays in line (under threat of having his identity exposed). Not long after CNN published the story in which they detail how they tracked the Reddit user down, the hashtag #CNNBlackmail began trending on Twitter.

CNN should have learned from their girl Hillary that you can't win a war against memes. RIP. 💀#CNNblackmail

CNN won't release the name of those who leak National Security Secrets but will release name of kid who hurt their feelings. #CNNBlackmail

But biggest (and worst of all) for CNN is James O’Keefe, who claims that the next installment on his American Pravda series exposing CNN will show them doubling down on their blackmail.

What will O’Keefe expose this time? Stay tuned for that.
And just a random thought here: if CNN actually were to publish the kid’s name, it would be the first time they reported something true in months!
