Just leave it up to the progressive socialists of the left to say something so over the top, stuck on stupid that you cannot ignore. Recently we had New Jersey Senator Cory Booker make a comparison between the D-Day landings at Normandy to fighting for Planned Parenthood. Yep, fighting to liberate a continent is just like fighting to kill innocent babies. However, here we are about to celebrate our 241st American Independence Day and good ol’ Bernie Sanders — ya know, the socialist with three homes, whose wife is under FBI investigation now relating to bank fraud — is defining for us what “freedom” means.
In a tweet this weekend, Senator Sanders, ok, I like the reference of ol’ Uncle Bernie said, “Republicans talk a lot about freedom and choice. But you cannot truly be free if you can’t afford health care or food or medicine.”
Republicans talk a lot about freedom and choice. But you cannot truly be free if you can't afford health care or food or medicine.

He was immediately (and appropriately) given an economics lesson.
Agreed fella. That's why we must oppose socialism.

If you rely on the state for your every need you aren't free. You're a slave. https://t.co/YzR8oqZNzE— EducatédHillbilly™ (@RobProvince) July 1, 2017
But you can't be free either if the gov't seizes 50% of the fruits of your labor to pay for its pet projects— JP Domanski (@jpdomanski) June 30, 2017
How much healthcare must you have to be free? What quality of healthcare? Prevention or only emergency? Does healthcare have to be equal?

Yesterday I spoke in my hometown of Atlanta at Dr. Michael Youssef’s Church of the Apostles on the subject of “True Liberty.” You can see their annual Independence Day celebration service and program at Apostles.org. What Uncle Bernie, and his ilk don’t understand is that we here in America celebrate our Independence based upon a document stating that we have the unalienable right, from our Creator, not Bernie, to pursue our happiness…not have some socialist attempt to guarantee it.
I find it rather perplexing that the likes of Bernie, liberal progressives and progressive socialists only believe there’s individual choice when it pertains to killing an innocent baby in the mother’s womb. Thomas Jefferson clearly outlines in our Declaration of Independence that our first unalienable right is life. These progressive socialists of the left don’t believe you have any choice, like in the area of education. What they embrace is a belief, a demented delusional concept, that they’re the grantors of our rights, and they’re the ones who define what is a right, and what is freedom. I have to ask Uncle Bernie, how many boats are leaving America heading to Cuba or Venezuela? Sanders’ tweet reminds me of a very astute quote that lays out the conflicting definitions of the word, liberty:
“The world has never had a good definition of the word liberty, and the American people, just now, are much in want of one. We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name, liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names, liberty and tyranny.” — President Abraham Lincoln, April 1864, Baltimore Sanitary Fair
Bernie Sanders, the socialist, defines liberty and freedom, as the latter: tyranny. He believes it’s his calling, his duty, to do as he pleases with others and the fruit of the labor of others in some sick ideal of redistribution of wealth.
Sanders and the left do not and have never believed true liberty and freedom are an individual right, and individuals are sovereign, able to determine their own way. Yes, there are those who need a safety net, but that should never become a hammock. Dependency is not liberty – and it’s certainly not freedom.
This is why we have seen modern day “liberals” hijack that term and pervert it into something it was NEVER intended to be. The father of classical liberalism, John Locke, would be appalled to hear these progressive socialists, these statists, refer to themselves as “liberals.” John Locke introduced the concept of “natural rights theory” and that our individual rights came not from those seeking to lord over us, but were part of nature and a natural God. These rights were life, liberty, and property…sound familiar? Simply put, if we’re so mindless to allow the philosophy of Bernie Sanders to prevail in America, we will no longer celebrate our Independence, but will become enslaved to a new dependence.
Is that really want you want to pass on to your children and grandchildren? Just imagine, would there be an America if those 56 men who signed their names to our Declaration of Independence went looking for a safe space, or needed a warm cup of overtaxed tea due to “micro aggression?”
Bernie Sanders, Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers, all the progressive, socialist, statist, and communist leaders who have ever existed all touted freedom…yet they only produced misery. Freedom isn’t about someone providing you the bare essentials in order to survive. Freedom and liberty are about an indomitable individual will, a right, to determine your way in life, free of impediments and obstacles that hinder or deny, your dreams and aspirations.
Hey Bernie, you want folks to be able to afford healthcare, food and medicine? Then shut your trap and allow our economy, that incredible free market enterprise, to thrive and get our citizens back up on their feet. Allow parents to choose the best education programs and schools to prepare their children for the future…instead of relegating them to those failing schools which the teachers unions advocate…and you support.
You sir have no freaking clue about what it means to be free, to be an American, and for me, that is utterly sad. You live in the greatest nation the world has ever known and just like Barack Obama, want to fundamentally transform it…into what? I will tell you, a doggone socialist disaster.
Hugo Chavez promised free healthcare, food, and medicine…and now folks in Venezuela are eating from garbage cans, and the stores have empty shelves. The government is gunning the people down in the streets because socialists don’t believe in that which truly affirms individual liberty and freedom: the right to keep and bear arms, our Second Amendment. We here in America are about to celebrate our 241st American Independence, we want nothing of your King George-like tyranny…and we will not surrender this unbelievable blessing we’ve been bequeathed by men and women of a far higher moral character than yourself.
The original resistance movement gave us these United States of America. Take heed of a simple message from those times Senator Bernie Sanders…”Don’t Tread on Me.”
To y’all who love and understand true liberty: happy doggone 241st American Independence Day!
