Before the election, members of the liberal media were worried that Donald Trump’s supporters would react violently to a Clinton victory. Magazine covers featured images of angry Trump voters, claiming they would start riots because of a “stolen election.”Of course, there was some partial truth to this narrative, but not in the way liberals were expecting. Instead, Trump stunned the world by winning the election, an event that caused liberals to turn violent. Since then, riots in the streets have caused millions in property damage, conservative activists have been violently prevented from making their speeches, and Republican lawmakers were shot during a baseball practice.
Sadly, the trend doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, liberals have even begun to target their own for having the audacity to disagree with the mob. In the latest example, California liberals have begun sending death threats to a Democrat lawmaker for opposing California’s single payer healthcare bill.
Some leftists are so angry at California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) for blocking a vote on a single-payer, government-run health care plan that they have been sending him death threats for days. The bill, the Healthy California Act passed the California State Senate earlier this month. The bill has a price tag of $400 billion – many times larger than the current state budget — but no plan to pay for the new system.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) urged California: “Please lead the country and pass the single-payer bill.” But Democrat Governor Jerry Brown was skeptical, wondering openly how the state would ever manage to afford to pay for it.
Although their opposition to the bill was reasonable, that hasn’t stopped the liberal mob from threatening violence:In return, he has begun to receive death threats. Rendon told the Sacramento Bee that he and his family have begun receiving threats through social media, including one that advised him to check “his schedule for baseball practice,” a reference to the shooting attack on several congressional Republicans at a baseball practice earlier this month.
Rendon also told the San Jose Mercury News that he felt threatened specifically because critics were accusing him of causing the death of people who, they claimed, would not have health care if it did not come from the new bill.California is already one of the most over-taxed states in the country, yet the only way to fund the legislation would be by increasing taxes. As the legislation stands now, California has no plan to pay for it.
Of course, liberals never did care much for those pesky facts. The message they now send is clear: agree with us or die. So much for tolerance and compassion.
