Many in the liberal LGBT community brag constantly about being “tolerant” and “inclusive,” yet when it comes to practicing what they preach, it seems they fall short in consistency.A group called Charlotte Pride, however, decided to ban “Gays for Trump” from their annual Pride parade, simply due to their support for the current sitting president.
What happened to “tolerating” those with a differing point of view?
The Blaze reports:
Brian Talbert, leader of the group, “Gays for Trump,” received a letter recently from Charlotte Pride saying that his group couldn’t participate in the Charlotte Pride parade, which is scheduled for late August, WJZY-TV reported. The rejection letter from Charlotte Pride said that it “reserves the right to decline participation at our events to groups or organizations which do not reflect the mission, vision, and values of our organization, as is acknowledged in our parade rules and regulations by all groups at the time of their parade application.”
“Charlotte Pride envisions a world in which LGBTQ people are affirmed, respected and included in the full social and civic life of their local communities, free from fear of any discrimination, rejection, and prejudice. Charlotte Pride invites all individuals, groups, organizations and causes which share our values to join our community’s celebration of the LGBTQ community, history, arts and culture during the Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade, Aug. 26-27, 2017,” the letter said.
But according to Charlotte Pride’s website, one of its “values” is “inclusivity,” which presumably would extend to political views.“Charlotte Pride values the contributions of all people and mindfully works to include a wide range of life experiences, perspectives and beliefs in all of our programs and activities,” Charlotte Pride declared on its website.
“For a group of people to claim to want tolerance, acceptance, and give it to every single person you can imagine to give it to — for them to sit back and judge me for exercising my right as an American to choose my leader without judgment is hypocritical,” Talbert said.Strange how all of that talk of valuing folks from all walks of life and belief systems gets tossed in the garbage when the person is a Trump supporter.
It’s clear the Charlotte Pride group doesn’t understand what “tolerance” actually means. Though you may disagree with a person’s beliefs or lifestyle, you extend to them the same courtesy you expect in return.
Sadly, the left’s idea of tolerance is putting up with those who already share their point of view.
