Actor and funnyman Jim Carrey — who hasn’t had a decent film in ages, just for the record — has transformed himself into a knight in shining armor, riding gallantly to the rescue of shamed comedian Kathy Griffin. As you know, earlier this week Griffin posted a picture of herself holding a mock severed head of President Trump on social media, a mistake that has seemed to completely derail her career as she’s been let go from both CNN and MGM.
Carrey may have lost a chunk of his fan base by coming to Griffin’s defense, especially after making the statement, “hold up a severed leg as well.”Way to stay classy, Jim.
According to The Guardian, At the premiere of I’m Dying Up Here, a new Showtime comedy he executive produced, Carrey told Griffin to “hold up a severed leg as well”. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he elaborated, explaining: “It is the job of a comedian to cross the line at all times, because that line is not real.”
He continued: “We’re the last line of defense. And really, the comedians are the last voice of truth in this whole thing.”In his interview, Carrey professed to having recently dreamed about playing golf with the president. “I had a dream the other night I was playing golf with Donald Trump,” he said. “I was standing beside him with a club in my hand, and I was considering my options when I suddenly woke up. It was one of those dreams where you just want to get back to sleep so you can finish it, you know?”
Carrey isn’t the only one standing by Griffin. Both Sen. Al Franken and talk show host Larry King have also come to her defense, with King himself saying, “she apologized, let it go.”
Gee, wonder if that same courtesy would be extended to those on the right who crossed the line? Probably not, which just goes to show the hypocrisy of the left. And bad beards. Jim, really?
