In wake of Comey firing, new poll STUNS

Since the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, the media has been running a few narratives side by side. The first is that Donald Trump’s approval ratings are low, proving public trust in the president has been lost. The second, that Trump’s firing of Comey added to the suspicion that he colluded with Russia. Never mind that liberals have long called for the firing of Comey, Trump’s decision was a reason not to trust him.

There’s just one problem with this narrative; Trump was right to fire Comey. Comey’s continued bizarre behavior over the course of many months severely damaged the FBI’s reputation. For an agency as important as the FBI, having the trust of the American people is vital. Comey lost that trust.

Now that liberals are suddenly outraged over Comey’s firing, they believe the man was a saint. However, a new poll reveals that Trump was right; Americans severely disproved of the job Comey was doing. So much so, in fact, that his numbers were even lower than the ratings for Trump the media keeps talking about.

From AOL News:

A new Harvard-Harris poll released on Tuesday to The Hill found a majority 60 percent of participants disapproved of Comey’s handling of his job at the bureau, while just 40 percent approved.

The same poll found that Trump’s approval rating fell to 45 percent from 49 percent in March.

The numbers back up part of Trump’s justification for firing Comey; his actions had eroded public trust in the FBI.

Of course, the media will only continue to push hysteria. Don’t expect the likes of CNN to report how unpopular Comey was with the American people; that doesn’t fit the narrative. Neither does the fact that the newest poll reveals Trump’s approval rating is actually on the rise.

From Rasmussen:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 48 percent of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-two percent (52 percent) disapprove.

The latest poll follows Trump’s successful trip to Saudi Arabia and Israel. There, Trump delivered strong remarks on the need for the region’s leader to come together and fight terrorism. His speeches on the trip were warmly received, boosting confidence in his leadership on the global stage.

The polls show that Trump can still win the public’s trust. The same can’t be said for James Comey — or the media.
