On September 23rd, 2013, Donald Trump tweeted out “Huma should dump the sicko Weiner. he is a calamity that is bringing her down with him.” It wasn’t another two years until he tweeted about them again, adding in August of 2015 that “it came out that Huma Abedin knows all about Hillary’s private illegal emails. Huma’s PR husband, Anthony Weiner, will tell the world.”Apparently you can add Hillary Clinton to that list, because we now know how far the classified information went that was sent over Hillary’s private email server.
According to the Washington Post, Hillary Clinton emails containing classified information were forwarded to former congressman Anthony Weiner, the director of the FBI testified Wednesday as he defended his handling of politically sensitive probes surrounding the last year’s presidential race.
Under questioning from the senior Democrat on the committee, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), James B. Comey revealed more details about how Clinton’s emails ended up on Weiner’s computer.
“Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information,” Comey said, adding later, “His then-spouse Huma Abedin appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to him for him to print out for her so she could deliver them to the secretary of state.”Huma was just as competent at handling classified information as her boss, it seems. Watch Comey’s exchange where he confirms that Weiner received classified information below:
Weiner and Huma would’ve “potentially” committed a crime, according to Comey. When asked if the FBI had been investigating the couple, Comey admitted that they had, but didn’t take action because the burden of proof would’ve required him to prove criminal intent on the part of Abedin. That hasn’t been the case in prior investigations related to the sending and receiving of classified information – and Comey wouldn’t answer any questions related to “hypothetical scenarios” in which the two would be guilty.
Of course, given that Weiner is under investigation for sexting with a fifteen-year-old, this is probably the least of his concerns.Perhaps he’ll invoke the Comey defense, and say he just didn’t know what he was doing was wrong.
