Attorney General Jeff Sessions has some bad, bad news for sanctuary cities, and boy, is it going to really make leftists across the country blow steam from their ears.Sessions announced today that the Justice Department is set to take action against any sanctuary cities that do not comply with immigration law, stating they will be punished by having their eligibility for grants denied.
Ouch.According to RT, The White House announced today action against sanctuary cities, saying that states and local jurisdiction must prove compliance with immigration law before they can be eligible for $4.1 billion in Department of Justice grants.
Jurisdictions must certify compliance with Section 1373 before they can be eligible for DOJ grants, Attorney General Jeff Sessions told reporters at the White House on Monday. That law regulates communications between agencies and the bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Sanctuary city policies “endanger lives of every American” and violate federal law, Sessions said, adding that “this disregard for law must end.”
And it seems this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the epic smackdown sanctuary cities are receiving today, as Mississippi has banned these places of “refuge” from the state entirely.via WKRG:
Gov. Phil Bryant has signed a law banning sanctuary cities and other policies that might help people who have entered the country illegally.
In signing the law Monday, the Republican governor said he’s also looking for other ways the state can cooperate with federal agencies to arrest people without legal status. The bill says cities, state agencies and public colleges cannot prevent employees from asking someone’s immigration status. Public agencies also cannot help people entering the country without permission, such as by issuing an ID card.
The bill would override Mississippi’s only sanctuary policy – a 2010 Jackson ordinance that prevents police officers from asking about immigration status.
This is great news for the safety and security of all Americans and proves that Trump most definitely intends to ensure our country’s borders are protected and our own citizens are put first.
