HA! Look what Dems were saying about Trump’s SCOTUS pick BEFORE he won…

The American Bar Association gave Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch their highest rating on March 16th, declaring him “well-qualified” for the job. According to the Association’s chair Nancy Scott Degan, the Bar’s standing committee on the federal judiciary reached this decision unanimously.

Democrats are powerless to block Gorsuch’s nomination, but they’re still going to attack the man and his record despite that fact, of course.

Among those criticisms will be of his stance on Obamacare (particularly his opposition to the contraception mandate), whether or not he’ll effectively keep Trump in check, and of his tenure during the Bush administration’s Justice Department, during which Gorsuch aggressively defended Bush’s anti-terror policies.

And throughout whatever criticisms you hear thrown at him during his hearings (which are currently underway), remember that Gorsuch faced no opposition from Democrats not long ago.

According to the Daily Wire, now that the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch is finally before the Judiciary Committee, it is good to hearken back to Senate Mitch McConnell’s tweet from February 1:

The assaults from Democrats notwithstanding, even left–leaning PolitiFact minced no words regarding McConnell’s assertion, simply rating it “True.”

On May 10, 2006, Gorsuch was nominated by President George W. Bush and approved by unanimous consent by the Senate for a seat on the court of appeals.

Colorado Democratic Senator Ken Salazar remarked, “I have recently met with Mr. Gorsuch and believe he has impressive credentials.” The Denver Post acknowledged that Gorsuch’s approval at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on June 21 came swiftly.

According to a transcript of the July 20, 2006 Senate meeting, no senator objected to Gorsuch; the voice vote consisted of one person saying “aye” with no objections.

That Senate included Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Harry Reid.

Sen. Ted Cruz pointed that out during today’s hearings.

Whoever votes against his nomination this time around is doing nothing more than playing politics. Like THAT’S never happened before.
