Yesterday was the final day of CPAC, the annual conference of the American Conservative Union, where conservatives gather for several days of speeches, networking and industrial-grade socializing. Each year, the conference closes with a “straw poll” where attendees are asked various questions. In an election year, they’re asked about candidates. This year the questions were about President Trump’s performance after one month.
The results were overwhelmingly positive. A staggering 86 percent of respondents approve of the job President Trump is doing so far — even though 47 percent feel the U.S. is on the wrong track. Which means, the respondents are very optimistic about the president’s efforts to change the direction. There was also overwhelming majority support for Trump’s moves to cut off federal funding to sanctuary cities, and the temporary travel ban.
But perhaps the most amusing question was “Do you approve or disapprove of President Trump using Twitter to communicate more directly with the American people?” A strong majority, 70 percent, approved.
And we’re sure President Trump approved of their approval. It is an extraordinary end-around that will continually flummox the media as their only defense seems to be making up stories about him and having tantrums. And at some point, you’d think they’d have to figure out he has a sense of humor? Because they clearly don’t.In any event, yesterday after Thomas Perez was elected as chairman of the Democrat Party, the president tweeted his hearty congratulations.
Congratulations to Thomas Perez, who has just been named Chairman of the DNC. I could not be happier for him, or for the Republican Party!

And how right he is. As Col. West wrote earlier today, Perez’s election will further fracture the Democrat Party between the establishment and the far left progressive wing. In some respects, it was a replay of what happened in 2016. There was no way the establishment was going to let Sanders win, and the same happened with Ellison.
In fact, we reported yesterday how the last minute switch from automated clickers to paper ballots caused Ellison supporters to cry foul – an event that didn’t escape the president either…
The race for DNC Chairman was, of course, totally "rigged." Bernie's guy, like Bernie himself, never had a chance. Clinton demanded Perez!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 26, 2017
Whether you love Trump or not, you must admit it’s refreshing to finally have a leader who calls ‘em as he sees ‘em. There’s a difference between politically correct and simply correct.
