With the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Democrats and their media enablers are once again trying to undermine the Trump administration. After news broke that Flynn had contact with a Russian official in the wake of Obama-imposed sanctions, liberals immediately recycled the story that the election had been stolen from them by Russian interference. Despite the fact that investigators found no reason to believe Flynn broke the law, or that the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia, Democrats continue to press the narrative.
During it all, Defense Secretary James Mattis has remained silent on the matter. However, that all changed when Mattis offered a surprising take during a recent press conference.
From The Hill:
Defense Secretary James Mattis on Thursday said that there was “very little doubt” Russia has attempted to interfere in democratic elections in the past.“There is very little doubt that they have either interfered or attempted to interfere in a number of elections in democracies,” Mattis said while answering questions at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
While liberals will spin this as proof the administration acknowledges their narrative, Mattis is actually bringing up a very important point. It’s not unusual for Russia to interfere with the elections of Democratic nations. In fact, it would be more surprising if Russia didn’t attempt to interfere with American elections.
What seems lost on Democrats is Russians have attempted to interfere in every American election since the beginning of the Cold War. Not only that, there were times when American officials — like liberal icon Ted Kennedy — actually pleaded with the KGB to help Democrats win elections. More recently, Russians attempted to hack both the RNC and DNC, but were only successful in gaining access to the DNC. Despite that, there is no evidence that Russians compromised the actual voting process.Of course, the successful hack of the DNC resulted in the release of extremely damaging information about Hillary Clinton. Conveniently, liberals spun this as proof that Russia was out to help Trump win. However, what’s more likely is Russians saw an opportunity to undermine what many thought was a foregone conclusion about who the next American president would be. A weak President Clinton was likely an appealing prospect to the Russians, especially considering how well they were able to push around President Obama.
Ultimately, the leaks helped prove what everyone already knew: Hillary Clinton was a corrupt candidate. Lost in all the noise is the fact nobody from the Clinton team even attempted to deny the revelations. Instead, they tried to deflect attention away from the actual material by claiming the Russians preferred a Trump victory.Sadly, by undermining the Trump administration, Democrats have put America’s interest at risk. It’s time for the Democratic Party to accept the will of the American people and put the petty politics aside.
