Pelosi just tried slamming Mike Flynn, fails miserably, backfires INSTANTLY…

If there’s one thing politicians should’ve learned by now, it’s the critical nature of checking and re-checking sources before quoting anything to anyone, especially if you’re holding a press conference on television.

This is apparently a lesson that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has yet to learn.

Apparently she decided to take a few swipes at former Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn — who recently resigned — by quoting a couple of tweets.

The only problem was they were from a fake account.

Pelosi wasn’t the only one to get duped. The New York Times — that sparkling bastion of left-wing propaganda — also fell hook, line, and sinker for the tweets.

Here are a few details from The Washington Examiner:

The New York Times fell for a fake Twitter account that claimed to belong to Mike Flynn, the former White House national security adviser who resigned Monday amid intense scrutiny.

The Times reported Tuesday night on Flynn’s resignation, which came after reports that claimed the White House was made aware the Russian government may have information that could be used to blackmail him.

The report included Twitter messages from an account called @GenMikeFlynn, though it was not created by the real Flynn. The Times updated its report with a correction after the mistake was noticed.

“[B]ecause of an editing error, an earlier version quoted three posts from an unverified Twitter account purporting to be Mr. Flynn’s, responding to the resignation,” the correction said.

The tweets from the fake account were related to Flynn’s investigation.

“While I accept full responsibility for my actions, I feel it is unfair that I have been made the sole scapegoat for what happened,” one tweet said.

A follow-up said, “But if a scapegoat is what’s needed for this Administration to continue to take this great nation forward, I am proud to do my duty.”

Talk about having egg on your face.

With “fake news” being all the rage these days, one would think the mainstream media would be extremely cautious about quoting anything without verifying the authenticity of said information.

That’s just journalism 101, and plain old common sense. Make sure someone actually said what you think they said before you print it.

The eagerness of both Pelosi and the NYT in running with this without checking is proof they care more about pushing an anti-Trump agenda rather than upholding the truth.

In case the left hasn’t figured it out yet, this is why Trump won.
