Please note: this article was written by a female, so everyone can untwist their knickers thinking this is in some way “sexist.”I (Michele Hickford) have written here frequently about the adroit, pithy political commentary from Hollywood luminaries such as (most recently) Meryl Streep, Madonna (and her “interesting” offer to Clinton voters), Gwnyeth Paltrow (who thinks getting mean twitter comments is like being on the battlefield) and Cher (just…nuts).
However, we must now create a new list, for the distinguished women of Hollywood who finally speak some sense, headed by Nicole Kidman, ex-wife of Tom Cruise, current wife of country crooner Keith Urban and dual Australian-United States citizen. The Hill reports, Kidman is a United Nations Women goodwill ambassador and, during a recent interview for her new film “Lion,” stressed her focus is on political issues, rather than political figures, saying, “I’m very, very committed to women’s issues in terms of I do a lot of fundraising for U.N. Women and I do a lot of traveling for them.”
Nonetheless, she weighed in on the presidential election and perhaps we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief.Nicole Kidman says it’s time for Americans to both accept and support Donald Trump as the country’s next president, saying, “He’s there and let’s go.”
“I would just say he’s now elected,” Kidman said in an interview this week with BBC News when asked her opinion of the president-elect, “and we as a country need to support whosever the president is, because that’s what the country’s based on.”
Gee, ya THINK? Can you let some of your fellow showbiz types know? You can watch her comments here at the 13:25 mark.
Thank you Ms. Kidman for this bit of sanity in la-la land.
