The inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump is coming around the corner with a quickness, and as such, plans for the event are being made, including booking talent to perform. As you might imagine, getting folks from the entertainment industry to say yes to such a request has been like pulling teeth, given the fact most of these individuals are leftist hacks who despise all things Trump.
One of the artists Trump and his team have been attempting to book is British singer Rebecca Ferguson, who said she’d perform at the inauguration under one condition:
She could perform a song about lynchings.
You can’t make this stuff up.According to Red Alert Politics, For British singer and songwriter Rebecca Ferguson, she’s informed the Trump camp that she’ll be there, but on one condition: she’ll be allowed to perform Abel Meeropol’s anti-lynching anthem “Strange Fruit.”
The song was infamously recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939, but Ferguson is looking to bring it back in front of a national audience, in a statement:
I’ve been asked and this is my answer. If you allow me to sing “strange fruit” a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial. A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world, then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington. Best Rebecca XSo it seems that just about anyone and everyone seems to think Donald Trump is some sort of raging racist who is eager to roll back the Civil Rights movement and start persecuting minorities in the streets, despite the fact he’s never ever said anything remotely to that effect.
Trump might be a lot of things, but we’ve seen absolutely zero evidence he’s a racist, nor is he in any way connected to racist groups, despite the attempts of the leftist media to push a narrative to the contrary. This is clearly an attempt by Ferguson to boost her career by using the current liberal tactic of activism to put herself out more in the public eye.
Hey, it worked for Colin Kaepernick, right?
