Lots of folks are looking at the stock market, Dow Jones average and other economic indices, for indicators of the “Trump” rally, the economic effect of his election. The belief that tax and regulatory reforms will enhance economic growth are visible evidence of a sea change in our nation. As well, you can sense something happening all over the country — well, except with angry progressive socialists who are talking about impeachment already. Folks are saying Merry Christmas with big smiles on their faces. And even though Michelle Obama tends to believe there’s no hope, lots of others do.And so I found another small indicator that things are changing and heading in a different direction, this from our U.S. Navy.
As reported in the Navy Times, “Navy leaders are reversing their controversial decision to eliminate sailors’ ratings and will restore job titles across the fleet, according to a Navy message set for release Wednesday.
Effective immediately, enlisted sailors will officially regain their ratings, the traditional job titles that have inspired a deep cultural loyalty and that have defined enlisted career tracks for generations, Navy officials said.
The move comes three months after the Navy stunned sailors around the world in September by eliminated ratings titles, including those such as boatswain’s mate that dated back to the founding of the service. The extraordinarily rare move comes after a fierce backlash from the fleet that became a distraction from the Navy’s broader effort to reform the antiquated personnel system, Navy officials said. Adm. John Richardson, the chief of naval operations, called it a “course correction” and acknowledged the overwhelmingly negative reaction from the fleet was a key factor in the decision.“We have learned from you, and so effective immediately, all rating names are restored,” Richardson wrote in a Navy message set for release Wednesday. A copy of the message was obtained by Navy Times Tuesday. Cmdr. Chris Servello, Richardson’s spokesman, confirmed Tuesday night that the Navy planned to restore ratings Wednesday and that a fleet-wide message from the CNO would be released online in the morning, along with more details from CNO and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Steven Giordano.
Though the ratings have been restored, change still lies ahead as the Navy plans to press ahead with its broader effort to fundamentally change the rigid personnel system and make career paths more flexible in the future. “The feedback from current and former Sailors has been consistent that there is wide support for the flexibility that the plan offers, but the removal of rating titles detracted from accomplishing our major goals,” Richardson wrote.”
The bottom line to this is that the uniformed leadership of the U.S. Navy realizes that SecNav Ray Mabus is on his way out in 28 days, 13 hours, 39 minutes, and 45 seconds, along with Barack Obama. The insidious decree from Mabus to have “gender-neutral” duty positions in our sea services, Navy and Marine Corps, was a grand overstep of progressive social egalitarianism. For the left, there’s no regard for tradition as it stands in complete antithesis to the mantra of progressivism. You know, that whole thing about showing respect during the playing of the national anthem and honoring the American flag, are just vestiges of “crude nationalism”…that being a very perplexing term used by Barack Obama recently in Greece.
You see, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines have long standing traditions and we reject the notion of safe spaces and binkies to make everyone feel good about themselves. Sadly, this has been the objective of the Obama administration and his loyal cronies who head up the Service Secretariat positions in the Department of Defense. These individuals have sat back and watched the decimation of our military — actually aiding it— while exploding and expanding the civilian bureaucracy of the Department of Defense. All the while they were issuing these ill conceived mandates, such a rate position and billet position name changes.Yes, since November 8th with the election of Donald J. Trump as president, hope has returned to our men and women in uniform. And the reversal of this decision is an indicator, that the voices of our Sailors were heard. These are our Sailors who are tired of being harassed at sea and forced to their knees by Iranians and Russians. These are our Warriors, part of that “Global Force for Good,” descendants of men such as John Paul Jones. They joined our Navy to set sail and guard our sea lanes of commerce and defend our way of life — not to be lab rats and experiment platforms for progressive socialists. Yes, hope is back in America and I am proud to see it is there for my brothers and sisters in our United States Navy.
