In the wake of the 2016 election, one thing has become perfectly clear about the Democratic Party; they have become an excuse factory. Instead of mastering the art of saving manufacturing jobs like President-elect Trump, they’ve mastered the art of manufacturing excuses.Democrats will blame everything except themselves for their failures. When Hillary Clinton lost the election, she blamed Russian hackers and the FBI. The reality is that the people had grave concerns about the prospects of Hillary Clinton running the country. Voters chose Donald Trump because he offered solutions and ideas, not corruption and cronyism.
The election of Donald Trump also served as a repudiation of the Obama legacy. Hillary Clinton embraced President Obama’s policies, essentially running her election as being a third Obama term. Voters didn’t like that idea, choosing instead to change course. Put simply, Americans were sick of disastrous Obama policies and wanted something different.
Don’t expect Democrats to get the memo. In a recent interview, President Obama was given an opportunity to discuss his thoughts on his legacy. Instead of a moment of self-reflection, Obama decided to pass the blame once again. Was it his policies people were upset about? Of course not! It was racism that was to blame. From the Huffington Post:
”I think there’s a reason attitudes about my presidency among whites in northern states are very different from whites in southern states,” Obama told Zakaria.Race has been a constant theme throughout the first African-American president’s two terms, from addressing the all-too-common fatal shootings of black youths by police to enduring unsubstantiated claims about his citizenship from the birther movement, which President-elect Donald Trump has largely led.
David Axelrod, former senior advisor to Obama, also appeared on the show and addressed the racial undercurrent plaguing his presidency.
“It’s indisputable that there was a ferocity to the opposition and a lack of respect to him that was a function of race,” he said. Not only did he blame racism, he chose to do it in a way that insulted half of the country! Of course, there’s a reason attitudes in the north are different than attitudes in the south towards the Obama presidency, and it has nothing to do with race. The obvious reason for the difference in attitudes is simply that the south is a stronghold for the Republican Party. Believe it or not, Republicans tend to disagree with bad liberal policies!
As shocking as it may be to President Obama, people hated his POLICIES so much that Donald Trump managed to flip northern states that hadn’t gone red in almost 30 years! Did northern states like Michigan that voted for the first (half) black president twice suddenly become hot beds of racism? Of course not.Democrats are no longer attempting to offer solutions that work for the American people. Instead of coming up with constructive ideas, they are making excuses and insulting people. It may make them feel better in the short run, but in the long run it’s not going to help them win any elections. The American voter is smarter than that.
