Donald Trump crushed Hillary Clinton 306 to 232 in the electoral college, and some liberals are still hoping out they can manipulate the system. A number of electors have reported being harassed and sent death threats by anti-Trump individuals who are trying to pressure them into giving their electoral vote to Hillary, even in states Trump clearly won.
Some Democrat electors themselves are revolting. Thus far, at least six electors already vowing to become “faithless,” with the defection being the largest since 1808, when six Democratic-Republican electors refused to vote for James Madison, choosing vice presidential candidate George Clinton instead.
And they’re not the only ones. At least one Republican elector won’t be casting his vote for Trump.
As The Hill reports: A Republican presidential elector from Texas has decided to step down rather than cast his vote for Donald Trump. Art Sisneros told Politico earlier this year that he was considering voting against Trump, but decided this week to resign instead.“If Trump is not qualified and my role, both morally and historically, as an elected official is to vote my conscience, then I can not and will not vote for Donald Trump for President,” the Texas Republican said in a blog post. “I believe voting for Trump would bring dishonor to God.”
The good news is that Sisneros will be replaced with an alternate elector who will vote for Trump when the Texas electors convene on December 19. Despite protest, at least thirty-eight electors would need to flip their votes for their plan to work, the odds of which happening are about zero.
